Pence: Idea of overturning election results is 'un-American'Former Vice President Mike Pence on Thursday defended his role in certifying the results of the 2020 election, saying he was “proud” of what he did on Jan. 6 and declaring that there is “almost no idea more un-American than the notion that any one person could choose the American president.”
---- “Now there are those in our party who believe that, in my position as presiding officer over the joint session, that I possessed the authority to reject or return electoral votes certified by the states,” he said. “But the Constitution provides the vice president with no such authority before the joint session of Congress “And the truth is,” he continued, “there’s almost no idea more un-American than the notion that any one person could choose the American president. The presidency belongs to the American people and the American people alone.” [link:https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/pence-idea-of-overturning-election-results-is-unamerican-mike-pence-donald-trump-american-joe-biden-congress-b1872531.html|] Emphasis mine And in the immediate future, as sure as night follows day... Mike Pence is about to get cancelled ala Cheney Trump will issue a rant Tucker will call for extreme measures All of the 2024 wannabees will move further to the right in their outrage... And for everyone else - far too little far too late... after supporting the systematic dismantling of democrat norms for four years, get the hell outta here.

his words strike me as exceptionally weaselly, even for him--pukes aren't trying to pick presidents based on one person overturning an election, but rather an entire infrastructure of crooked election officials, judges, and legislators who would install loser puke candidates.

He stood behind Trump and gazed adoringly at him as Trump trashed the Constitution and attempted to posture himself as a Dictator. Plus, he's still buddies with a guy who would have gladly seen him hung during the Insurrection attempt. I don't respect that. But, Party Over Country. At least he is consistent.

13. Who would have thought
That an elected official adhering to the mandates of the Constitution would be considered an extraordinary act of bravery. What would have happened if he had given in and done as ordered? He knew he was the only one who could save the country at that point and he did the right thing despite incredible pressure and death threats.
Of course he will get the Liz Cheney treatment. Perhaps he believes the party will snap out of it someday. I hope he’s right. It’s those Republicans that are working both sides of the fence (like my “moderate” Congressman, Brian Fitzpatrick) that are truly evil. I thoroughly disagree with Pence on his political views, especially the misogyny, but I have to give him credit for having a spine when it mattered. |

22. He did the right thing only after calculating its effect on him and his family...
Pence is purely transactional like most Repugs. He has 3 kids with nice lives based on his connections. These nice lives depend on a stable country. His kids make money under both Dems and Repugs.
So he calculated that if he did not certify the results there would be total chaos and riots and the country pretty much brought to its knees. Thus the cushy lives of his family would be disrupted. No way a morally bankrupt snake like Pence did a thing because it was constitutional or the right thing to do. He and his wife calculated the pros and cons of both decisions and decided that certifying the election had more benefit to them and theirs than not certifying it. If he could, he would welcome a dictatorship by Trump where he stood at his right hand...if he could also have a stable country to go along with it. He calculated that he could not have both. |

37. You Didn't Have to Be There To Know...
That pence told trump there was nothing that could be done. WHAT AMAZES ME IS HOW MANY ELECTED OFFICIALS WE HAVE IN OUR GOVERNMENT WHO DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS IN THE US CONSTITUTION. It's bad enough that we had thousands of racist crackheads storm the capital "FOR NOTHING", they're stupid, you expect as much from them, but if you're an elected official you should know better. Why did trump want pence to so something "he knew" was not going to help him.
NANCY PELOSI WAS RIGHT, "ALL ROADS LEAD TO PUTIN." TRUMP, THE FREEDOM CAUCUS, ARE ALL RUSSIAN ASSETS. And I believe that many of those rioters were also russian assets. This explains their loyalty to trump. trump has the goods on all of them. It can't just be racism or extremism, it has to be something deeper. |

Given the small size of the crowd and how many left in the middle of Dumdum's whinefest last night. I'd have to say people are getting pretty sick of the posturing and the Big Lie, whether or not the believe the Big Lie. The shtik has just gotten stale and they need some novelty.
I don't know if they can come up with another slick snake oil salesman by 2024, it might be too soon. However, if they hang together at all as a racketeering organization in political party drag, you can bet one will be along, capped teeth and stage prsence. |
