(14,768 posts)If you are wondering why the feds aren't moving on these guys, a prosecutors agreement not to prosecute is as good as a pardon, and it's private for the most part.
I'm beginning to conspirarize that the doj issued a lot of these to the trump clan.
In any event, it wouldn't apply to state charges, just federal.

(28,347 posts)for the specific charges at that particular time?
It just seems so crazy to me that the deal was a forever, and a whatever federal deal.
I've also wonder if Donald didn't issue a few secretive all-purpose pardons before his term was up. I remember reading that that is something a president could do.
I worry a lot ...

Allen Weisselberg's extensive knowledge of the president's finances could be highly valuable to investigators.
In what may be the biggest legal blow yet to President Donald Trump, federal prosecutors in New York have granted immunity from prosecution to Allen Weisselberg, the man who knows Trumps financial secrets and those of his family and his global business empire.
At the very least, Weisselberg the Trump Organizations chief financial officer has provided key information to federal prosecutors in their case against former Trump lawyer and self-described fixer Michael Cohen and his hush-money payments to two women during the 2016 election, according to a person familiar with the matter.
But federal prosecutors in Manhattan could use Weisselbergs cooperation to investigate a broad array of potential financial crimes and irregularities, including any other payoffs and campaign finance violations, false statements to the government, corrupt business dealings overseas and tax evasion by Trump, his family members and their eponymous company and all of its related entities and offshore shell companies, legal experts told POLITICO on Friday.
What we have right now is a campaign finance issue, said Joyce Vance, a 25-year former federal prosecutor and U.S. Attorney for Alabama in the Obama administration. But theres a whole amusement park of potential crimes out there given what we know about Donald Trump, and Weisselberg is the guy who knows where the entrance is and has the roadmap of it.
In many ways, Weisselberg isnt just the keeper of the roadmap, he is the roadmap, with a head full of information about names, dates and reasons for why the secretive Trump entered into particular transactions.
And a later article stating that Weisselberg never cooperated, leading many to believe that someone 'got' to him:

Trump Org's Weisselberg not cooperating with feds, sources say
Cohen brought up Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg several times when discussing the hush-money payments Cohen made to women who claim past affairs with Trump affairs the president has repeatedly denied.
Weisselberg received immunity to testify before a federal grand jury in New York during the course of the investigation into the payments, The Wall Street Journal, NBC News and others reported last summer. Cohen pleaded guilty in August to tax and bank fraud as well as to campaign finance violations tied to those hush-money payments.
Some news outlets have suggested Weisselberg's testimony means he is cooperating with federal probes involving Cohen, the president and the Trump Organization. But three people with direct knowledge of the matter tell NBC News that Weisselberg is not cooperating, has never been a cooperating witness, and has provided limited details in the course of his testimony.
A person close to the Trump Organization tells NBC News that Weisselberg is still with the Trump Organization and defends Trump and the company.

(1,990 posts)The immunity only covers charges/crimes related to his testimony to the GJ. Its not "blanket" immunity.
