https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/14/politics/child-tax-credit-payments-explainer/index.htmlThe first round of monthly payments of $250-$300 per child have been issued and they will continue every month through the end of the year. The $3.5T reconciliation bill in the Senate supposedly extends (and expands?) those credits in the coming years.

(112,252 posts)nobody on DU has children that are under 18. All of those missed procreational opportunities because they were on DU instead.

(6,011 posts)the unemployment I received last year. I had filed my tax return before the taxes on 2020 unemployment benefits were lifted.
On this subject, I think the payment of these child tax credits "up front" is a good idea.
People can use that money now, instead of waiting to receive it as part of a tax refund.
This should be made permanent.

(9,656 posts)While its great people wont have to wait for their tax refunds , half the credit will be there at tax time, so best of both worlds
