Thank you Jim! Someone had to say it

CNN’s Jim Acosta said on Wednesday night there’s a “critical question” of whether Donald Trump “belongs in the slammer” for his actions trying to stay in power leading up to January 6th.

Acosta was on with Chris Cuomo reacting to the stunning revelation in a new book that top military leaders were so fearful that Trump would attempt a coup that they considered resigning if Trump gave any orders they considered to be illegal.

his plan was well thought out and would have worked. The top brass planned to resign incrementally, one at a time, so as to prolong implementation of MF45's plan for a coup. There would have been plenty of outrage in the country as generals resigned rather than follow their CIC's orders.

He should be under house arrest with an ankle bracelet and some kind of “gag” order to shut him up.
Then we might figure they are doing a little something about righting this tragic insurrection.

And, it looks to me like the military leaders' fears were justified, because that's exactly what he did. Fortunately, he failed in his attempts.

because it was the only plan available to the top brass. No way our country allows General Flynn to implement MF45's coup.

When given an illegal order Milley and the other generals have the option to ignore said order, if the CIC persists, option #2 is the only option, to resign. This wasn't a bad plan it was the only option. Think about how this would have looked as 1 general after another resigns rather than obey their CIC.

He had the DOJ and Bill Barr’s statement that no significant voting fraud occurred as evidence that the order was illegal. He also had several court cases by that time that had gone against Trump. A press conference saying he could not follow Trump’s order for a military coup would have been enough. Trump might have then fired him, but it’s unlikely that the military would have followed the orders of any Trump toady that replaced him.

the capitol and would need to be rooted out. Without destroying the structures, can you imagine how this would look on the world stage? I hope nothing else happens, but you can bet there is intense planning on how to improve upon 1/6 as soon as possible. Would there be enough brass like the Flynn boys to create an even larger coup? I don't know, but here we are half a year later and public opinion is still very divided. That's pretty f'in chilling, and before the Orange Menace would have thought it unthinkable. He and his cult desperately want another crack at toppling Democracy and being installed as "leader". GOP would do nothing to prevent this if they saw their opportunity for lasting, absolute power.
