...
Of course, in addition to this unlikely alliance of two politically and ideologically polar opposite U.S. leaders, much credit is owed the scientists working in academia and in the private sector ...
...
How interesting is it that in spite of Trumps virulent attacks on science, his boisterous rejection of evidence-based public health policies, his off-the-wall flouting of recommendations to wear masks and keep appropriate social distancing, avoid crowds, and so on, that he pushed hard to get vaccine development fast-tracked.
...
Even without dwelling on the implications of those realities, I believe that Donald Trump could actually serve his country right now by using his still viable, still influential platform to his millions of his fanatically devoted followers to get vaccinated. Thats it. That message could increase the number of vaccinated Americans by millions especially in the states Trump won in 2020, precisely where the lowest vaccination rates are.
Some may argue that whatever Trump says at this point will still not move some Americans who are devoted, conspiracy believing anti-vaxxers. Thats probably true for the fringers who believe that vaccinations include implantable microchips or make people magnetic. But hopefully the number of people that crazy is small enough that well still be able to create a situation of herd immunity, at least here in the U.S.
If Trump needs to call it the Trump Vaccine to convince his people to take it, let him; their lives are at stake and, as the virus continues to mutate, the decisions they make, or do not, matter to everyone else.
Cocaine is helluva drug.

(866 posts)There was a guy in his 70s, and about 5 other people. A lady said she wished we could convince everyone to get vaccinated so we could not wear masks at the doctors office. The 70 year old man said, I have to tell the truth. I just want them all to gather together, get Covid, and die. We all laughed because we have all had this thought.

(810 posts)1. OWS did nothing. The first vaccine was produced by a company that didn't even participate.
2. There are no ideological differences between Biden and TFG. TFG has no ideology -just a malformed, needy set of emotions that dictate his every move -even when it means the next move contradicts directly the previous move.
3. TFG will never ever ever do anything for his country unless he can turn a personal profit from it. He has bone spurs, you know.
4. I do not care about those in his cult. Normally, I would. However, their perverse adherence to the worst example of a man that I can think of and their willingness to perpetrate violence in that cause allows me to write them off if they want to harm themselves.
