I understand if Pelosi and Schumer aren't available. I don't understand if the republican congressional leaders were invited and the Democratic leaders weren't.

EDITED TO ADD: I've been looking for a full list of attendees, but the only thing I've come up with so far is this: "The schedule says that the dinner will be attended by Vice President Kamala Harris, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and others who have supported the U.S. relationship with Germany."

Not very informative, but it mentions two people who aren't named in the tweet (Kamala and Doug), which tells me that we can assume there will be others. (Likely including Schumer and Pelosi).

McCarthy has been at Bedbugminster all day in top level meetings with the Orange Ass Boil, and Mitch is probably shaking down summer school students for their milk money. Neither is a big fan of Biden or Merkel.

I don't think they'll attend. What could they possibly talk about with anyone else at the President's dining table.
