One point that Dan Goldman made which Jeremy Bash disputed was that we were barely able to prevent the coup, and to prevent trump from taking more treasonous actions, even with the military who did not approve of him.

Jeremy Bash argued that what he had seen from the military was a commitment to the constitution and a preparedness to turn away a treasonous president. I believe that, but he also said that had trump given an order for the military to mount an insurrection, that they would have resigned on the spot.

"Resign on the spot"...Lets think about that...How would that have helped at all? They resign, they open the door for trump to appoint his corrupt people who will do his dirty work, and that is the end of it. That is why Dan Goldberg said "barely", and I feel Jeremy Bash did not get the point, which in my opinion, is a very valid point.

To your point that the institutions are why the buffoon failed is true, but I have to agree with Dan Goldman, barely. And we are not out of the woods yet, republicans seem to be compromised so they are still carrying water for the buffoon, they are setting everything up to allow a possibility that, unless he is indicted and put in jail, he can run and win, cheating but win anyway.

Several institutions stood firm that day and night and yes, there are reasons to be vigilant.

as I recall theorized that certain conditions were needed to carry out a revolution, namely a centralized city to attack as just about the only location of political power, bad economic conditions, general chaos where power is 'in the streets'.

We were never there. America is too large, too diverse, power too dispersed, even in the nation's capitol. The presidency is not a monolith. The states and judiciary weigh in on national power as well.

It's not clear how much power GQP state legislatures could amass. There would still be judiciary and blue states to deal with, as well as the power in Washington.

Another important point is that the Slobfather is both too arrogant and ignorant to have pulled off a coup He knows nothing about the political system.
Still at the end of the day, it will be the American people who sort this out.
