The violation is that she doesnt know what HIPAA is.
I got my vaccination in a room of 50 + people with 50 more waiting in line. Not exactly a private undertaking.
But Maggie just doest want to answer the question in the event it causes her to disappoint MAGAts and runs from it like it was the plague.

I dont want to go the wrong way on this. Health info should be private.

(11,744 posts)That reporter should have stopped Greene in that instant and said, "I'm sorry but you are wrong about HIPAA. It doesn't work that way, now will you or won't you answer the question". If Greene continues to use the HIPAA thing, then you say, "Look, now you are lying about it. You've been told that you are wrong and you continue to deceive. That is lying" Will you answer the question?"
You have to keep the fire on.
We all know that Greene is vaccinated. She is stupid, but not that stupid. She is a grifter, and has an image to uphold among a certain demographic. If that image is broken, then she loses credibility among the only crowd that still thinks she has any. For her, it is a matter of economic survival. She cannot deviate from her character, otherwise she knows she will lose favor. She has no credibility as a respectable politician so she needs to keep up the charade of the populist.

On May 18, several GOP members refused to wear masks on the House floor in defiance of House rules on mask-wearing, including Greene. When asked whether she was vaccinated, Greene told reporters that asking about her vaccine status was a HIPAA violation. ....
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or HIPAA, is a law that prevents health care professionals from sharing private health information without the patient's permission.
But experts agree the interpretation of HIPAA cited by Greene and others online is inaccurate. The law has no bearing on who can ask or answer questions about health status outside a health care setting, they say.....
Alan Meisel, a professor of law and bioethics at the University of Pittsburgh, told USA TODAY at the time that HIPAAs rules apply only to sharing information between "covered entities." The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services describes covered entities as health plans, health care clearinghouses, and those health care providers that conduct certain health care transactions electronically.
Meisel said the claim that HIPAA protected people from being asked about their vaccine status is utter nonsense.
