She's always been a nut case. We would invite her to lunch or supper to see what horseshoe she was focusing on. Then we would have a good laugh or two.
Yesterday was a memorial event for our friend/lover/parent who died last year. About 75 people for an outdoor gathering, including kids. This is N.j. so we were all 2vac months ago. EXCEPT HER. But she doesn't tell anybody or mask up.
Our kids were there and they aren't vaccinated.

(3,241 posts)She was invited to see what horseshoe she was focusing on. Then because of the crazy, they would laugh. I dont see that she was invited just to laugh at her. Perhaps after this incident of selfishness and dangerous behavior, she will not be welcomed at future gatherings.

(12,515 posts)Her sister was a high ranking state politician --- Second highest office in our state. She did not file income tax for 9 years so that it would embarrass her sister if/when she got caught. She filed after her sister left office.
She had 200 gallons of water stored in our basement (Yes, you can keep 'em here until you find a new apartment). She was accumulating and storing them so that when the water system failed, ..... That was around 1998.
"Water company is adding mercury to the water supply to kill the new bacteria because chlorine is not strong enough to kill the new strain of flesh eating bacteria. Approximately 2004.
She has two masters degrees. One in engineering. I don't know about the other.
We like her. She is friendly and outgoing.
Do you think any of the above is funny? We think its hilarious.
We don't plan to see her again.

(8,165 posts)We're seeing a lot of that these days.
I hope the person who was being honored didn't succumb to Covid. To arrive at a service for a Covid victim and then rant about vaccines would scale new heights of insensitivity, but then that's what Trump and so many anti-vaxxers are known for.

(866 posts)After our vaccinations, we were all hesitant. Then, slowly, we stopped wearing masks when walking the dog, started visiting family, etc. This week, we all got that reality check: hearing people with deep coughs in the store, realizing we have to order cute masks for the kids to go back to schools. The assholes screwed it all up. We need to beware. My fully vaccinated disabled son who got asymptomatic Covid early on is sick. Hopefully its a summer cold, but.... We need to protect ourselves and our unvaccinated kids.

I've been called the COVID Cassandra by my boss, who still isn't listening, despite the reality that every prediction I've made has been accurate.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
