iI have no issue with people dressing any way they wish.
I have many issues with an official governing body MANDATING that a women's sporting event should be a forced T&A show.
When the Norwegian beach handball team was threatened with a fine for wearing shorts instead of bikini bottoms, Pink offered to pay heir fine.
Good for her. And good for them!!!

(7,911 posts)As long as the clothing they choose is not hazardous, nobody should tell them how they must dress.

(1,910 posts)I will post this for the 10th time due to the misinformation being given. The Olympics do not require bikinis.
It was an EU tournament official that issued the fine because that EU tournament required it.
In the Olympics women and men can wear shorts and T shirts if they desire. Any bikinis seen in the Olympics is the players choice, not a mandate.

(21,651 posts)wear to wear only a jock strap, or nothing at all?
Your comment overlooks the fact that the requirements are being made for women only.

(1,910 posts)It was an EU tournament that issued the fine. Olympics have no bikini mandate anymore and have not for a while now.

(8,828 posts)It, this is fine. I support Pink stepping up. But damn it, I have not heard Any females bitching about mens diving jocks. Or mens swim trunks. Where is the equal complaining here. With The last Supreme Court appointee, I feel sure you can stop the womens bikini attire. Until ALL the athletes start saying no, stop watching if your offended. The Pillow guy has multiple channels on 24/7. I will keep watching these magnificent athletes that treat their bodies like a temple, not a Trump tower. Bitch about Walmart attire like tank tops, no bra with muffin top hanging over Daisy Duke shorts on women 5 feet tall and 5 feet wide, with Juicy across the ass.

(67,827 posts)The governing body of their sport decreed bikini bottoms.
The team chose not to wear bikinis and instead wore shorts.
The governing body said there would be a fine for not wearing the required uniform.
Pink said she would pay the fine.
See? No mention of Walmart, Trump tower, the Supreme Court, the pillow guy, or whatever else you were on about.

(8,828 posts)About Olympics. Real slow, it was a Euro 2021 Tournamentc. Before these games. Had nothing to do with this Olympic committee demanding women wear that attire. If the Olympians would refuse to wear that, I would be 100 percent behind them. I assume you are horrified the mens diving team are forced to wear their trunks. And mens swimming team, womens track and field, and mens Lycra tights without support. I fully support the Norwegian women taking a stand. I have yet to hear any athletes doing the same in these as well as past Olympics. When they do, I would donate to fines enforced for their stance. I was so disgusted seeing butt cheeks on bikes in the womens triathlon. The horror.

(1,389 posts)Im happily married to one. We have raised and unleashed another on the world. And as a man who is totally in touch with his lizard/pig brain, this issue makes me wild. The Olympics should high lite the pentacle of the human condition, but doping and money-making and misogyny are making a whole different, probably more reality based, comment on the human condition.

(31,261 posts)The problem was obvious. The women were forced to show a lot of body, with bikinis that they likely have to constantly pull out of their butt crack. The men wore tank tops and highly functional shorts that easily conformed to dynamic motions during competitions.

(25,684 posts)If the reason is ease of movement, why don't men wear them too? I don't get it. Ballet dancers do a million times more difficult movements but in tights and leotards or costumes, despite the sweat. I really think having everything tucked in is better.

Outrageous!

(31,261 posts)It was all about sexual indicators, men with broad bare chests and women in cloths that barely covered their private parts. The origins were grossly sexist, and governing bodies simply have not caught up.
The German Womens Gymnastics team used full body leotards in Tokyo. Dont know whether they will wear them in all their events. The one piece garment looked freaking awesome.

(1,910 posts)Not sure why some insist on posting misinformation. There is no bikini mandate in the Olympics anymore. Teams can decide what to wear, shorts and T shirts are perfectly fine for both men and women teams.
It was an EU tournament official that issued that fine because that tournament had that horrible requirement.
But the Olympics no longer have the mandate and have not for multiple Olympics now.

(8,828 posts)Posted this above. Tired of the bitching about Olympic committee sexist. These athletes are not trying to change the attire they compete in. Are the mens diving team upset, are women complaining about them. When the athletes say no, I stand with them. They are not. If its offensive, use the damn remote. Their body, their choice. When its not, I will support their stance. Until then I am enjoying the hell out of the games and no political rage. These athletes are amazing, a life time of work and proud of the bodies. These are not bridesmaids games.
