(31,109 posts)When you have a low IQ and very little education you operate off of "buzz words" that you have been told represent bad things. This way you dont have to even know what they mean, just know they are bad, sigh.

DeSantis got into Yale because he was a really good baseball player--he was captain of the team. By the time he was ready for law school, he was fully part of the wingnut affirmative action crowd (Federalist Society, etc.).
No way either of these two get into these schools if they are from the Tristate NYC area or aren't super good at sportsball.
Tom Cotton? Diversity admit (grew up in Deliveranceville, Arkansas).
Ted Cruz? Duh, affirmative action. He's Cuban and Canuckistanian.
I could go on and on....
I should note that I support affirmative action. I just like to tease those who deserve a little ribbing.

(11,736 posts)You can certainly simplify it to "dumb". I have no problem with that.
Socialism is a scary word, that I would be willing to bet that 95% of Stefanik's audience does not understand. She, being a Harvard graduate, and noted by a Democratic colleague to be "smart", likely knows what socialism is and knows she is lying about it.
She knows that her audience will not bother to even think about what socialism has to do with either program, except that "Socialism is bad" and we don't want to lose Medicare and Medicaid, neither of which are socialism, but are definitely within the realm of public social programs in the vein of Social Democracy.
