The Covid relief benefit of an extra $300 per week is ending on Labor Day. Half the states have already ended this benefit (mostly Republican governors).
We have one month left until the end of benefits. The Delta variant may cause further disruptions in businesses and hiring.
We should let people know so they can plan. Will the benefits definitively end? Will Democrats attempt to procure some kind of relief or extension? What can people expect?
We need to avoid a repeat of the eviction moratorium, where people had no idea what was going on until the last conceivable minute, and everyone had to scramble to figure something out. Everyone knew the day was coming. People sat on their hands until literally days before.
We shouldn't have a repeat of that chaos. Let people know, let people plan. And if Congress or the administration need to take action, let's start getting that together sooner rather than last minute.

(15,325 posts)...munching oreos & cheetos & laughing while the cameras rolled, as Maxine Waters & her team were inside completing the complicated paperwork.
Yes they all knew the moratoreum had a deadline.
So did Ms Bush.
Some chose to dig thru the hard part of writing the complicated policy as to provide for all, while carefully wording it to secure its passage.
Some chose to mention only herself, for the cameras & grab all the credit for solving the problem.
Did she even mention those who did the hard part while she sat onnthe Capitol steps, munched cheetos & oreos, all the while protected by the Capitol Police she had just voted to defund?
Did she even name those who put the final draft together?
Just asking.
Perhaps Ms Bush can get Congress and the President to make clear their plans on expiring unemployment assistance now.

(9,073 posts)I'm trying to draw attention to a serious issue that we have solid time and space to act - or not act - upon.
Maybe more thoughts about hungry people and the jobless, less on what cable news and Twitter are on about this afternoon.
Yeesus creezy.

(15,325 posts)You think many of those homeless & facing dire conditions have $70G on hand to protect themselves from what they face every day on the streets?
Guess they can "suck it up" as well as the rest of us. Huh?
She's not the advocate she claims to be.
But the GOP grabbed that talking pt as soon as her words were spoken.
Ya. I'm just a bit pissed at her sideshow.
Yeesus creezy. Is exactly right.
