(28,342 posts)have totally obscured the stars, "sunlight" such as it is is this weird tan/orange/dirty pink color. Moon looks gunky. It's depressing.

(32,626 posts)we've had some slightly smoky skies that had to travel a long way to get here. Not comparable at all to what you must be seeing. It's fascinatingly frightening

Oregon has a surreal tint to its late afternoon sunshine the past couple days. Cant see it but theres definitely smoke in the atmosphere.
We experienced what you describe with the catastrophic Hollywood and Archie Fires in the west side Cascades last September. The whole southern coast was smoked in for almost two weeks the first time wed seen that in the 32 years we had lived here.

I appreciate this picture of a picture that was taken. We have so much messiness and danger and bad shit -- I think this picture is just wonderful.
I love that our elected Raps take the time to document beauty.
