to remove our governor from office (Newsom).
The Registrar told me my ballot has been mailed and to contact them if I don't receive it in a week.
I guess they are expecting some funny stuff to happen.
I wouldn't be surprised: when the GOP did this to Gray Davis, my ballot was stolen. I got to the election booth, and they told me I didn't have a ballot, so I had to vote with a provisional ballot (which I heard basically means that your vote won't count).
I hope this texting helps keep the election fair, but I have a feeling the GOP is going to use the new cheating tactics that they've developed since that big ass sat and did nothing in our WH.

(10,161 posts)If you're original ballot was postmarked by election day and it doesn't show up by 3 days after the election, the county is supposed to process your provisional ballot as the real one. Counties are supposed to provide you with a tracking number for your provisional ballot so you can see what happens to it. California does its darndest to make sure the peoples' votes count - and if your county doesn't, scream loudly.

(10,161 posts)I've been permanent vote-by-mail since the early 2000s. The registrar's web site claimed it was sent, but I never received it. So I contacted them, got a response almost immediately, and a replacement ballot. But then I live in Santa Clara county, which has a very active Democratic party keeping an eye on things. We have had on-line ballot tracking for at least a decade.
