Probably true. Here's a picture of the guy, available at an easy Google Image search:

[img][/img]

I'm a bi woman who leans towards men, and I don't find him the least bit attractive. Overdeveloped upper body, pitiful little T.rex limp arms, the package in the shorts is NOT promising, and the less said about his face, the better. Also, I like chest hair, and he has none. And WHY THE HELL, if you're trying to advertise your body, would you wear knee-length shorts? Those don't flatter anyone, of any body type, or any gender. Why are you hiding your thighs? I would think thighs would be very important for a potential sex buyer. They certainly are for this one!

(Am I judging him too harshly physically? I'm judging for commodity value and explaining exactly how he doesn't pass muster for me. As a woman, I know I've been judged on my looks and found wanting many times over. I'm no beauty rose either. But if it's really all about the commodity value, than fuck yeah I'm gonna be critical and picky.)

One man alone attempting the brothel life, probably for kicks, is not a representative sample, especially for something as traditionally culturally forbidden in the US as the idea of women paying for sex. We have NEVER been acculturated to do this. We have NEVER been taught that it was okay, or safe, or acceptable. One single man trying and failing in a totally new realm, probably overpriced at that, says nothing--especially when he's kind of fugly.

There are parts of the world where male prostitution for wealthy older women is not that rare. My mom, traveling in Egypt alone, was approached by a "tour guide" who offered to introduce her to a "handsome, strong" young man for a fee. (She's savvy, she caught on fast, she said, "No, I'm married," and after she said it about 5 times and gave the guy about $10 to shut up, he understood that she really meant it.) There is a very real business of men in peak tourist sites abroad who come out to meet the tour buses and boats full of wealthy older women from Europe, and he thought my mom was part of that crowd. Male prostitution for women is real, but the transaction protocol is very different.

Supposedly we are undesirable. I've often thought men had it worse, in spite of the numbers, because so few women meet the requirements of beauty and youth, and thus all of the men, though not on the shelf, are competing for the few still young and pretty. Not all young women are pretty enough, either.

Sometimes you even see a demand for "experience," and that causes some of the young women with looks to drop out, too.

If I had the money, I might pay for a man who met my EXACT specifications, for a night or two. But what are the odds of finding that?

Two of my best friends are OB/GYN's. They both say there is a CLEAR generational gap around 40 years old. Almost all women under 40 are shaved. Of all my friends (all under 40), EVERY SINGLE ONE prefers shaved.

As for shaved men, it is a bit newer of a trend. I would possibly drop the number to 30.

And you can try to play your "shower once in a while" card, but we all know the truth. There are parts of the body that are more prone to sweat, smell, etc. I don't want to get it on with my wife at the end of the day and tell here she either needs to shower before I'll think of dropping or endure a smell (that exists after a few hours, as much as you would like to pretend it is days).

Once again, I will bet you are outside this range (i.e. over 40). Try it and you will see it is MUCH better.

and days? showering once in a while is days? most people shower daily... "I don't want to get it on with my wife at the end of the day and tell here she either needs to shower before I'll think of dropping or endure a smell" poor baby. perhaps you could explore showering together as foreplay. do you shave your pits? wouldn't want those to be too stinky for your wife! you know, they get smelly after a few hours if you don't bother to wash and use deoderant....

"Try it and you will see it is MUCH better." Try what? and what will be better? you saying my crotch stinks, and i should shave it, and then it won't? trust me, you will NEVER be close enough to my crotch to determine it's status nor have to worry your pretty little head about it! LOL.

i guess young "men" these days like their "women" to look like little girls, gross. i'll stick with the over 40 crowd then. not shaving my labia for anyone. and my husband likes it that way just fine.

I am 35 and have not done it too much. When I have been shaving downstairs and shave my stomach up to my chest, my wife LOVES it. We (meaning she) have discussed shaving my chest hair and I assume I will some time.

That said, I used to work in Big 4 public accounting, which is a field dominated by college graduates. In the last few years the majority of men shaved everything (yes, we talked about it) and the majority of young women there preferred it (yes, they also talked about it). Finally, in talking to my wife (and a couple other people who work in the intimate regions in the medical field) have also seen a CLEAR demographic shift when it comes to this.

Hell, one only needs to look at porn to see where our culture has headed.

As I specifically stated in my reply, the only sentence of yours that I was addressing with the Google search was:

"Just like no guy under the age of 40 wants a hairy bush." (emphasis mine)

Your use of the word "no" trapped you. It cannot be "100% accurate" if there is only one case where the opposite is true. That is simple logic. If only one guy under 40 likes a hairy bush, then your statement is false. So my evidence directly counters your claim.

And your claim about the majority's preferences dealt with hairy men (chest hair, specifically), not hairy women. So your Google search about hairy women as evidence to prove your claim of majority speak is irrelevant. I made no claim that you do not speak for the majority regarding hairy or hairless women, just that your claim that "no guy under the age of 40 wants a hairy bush" was innacurate.

Do try to keep up.

The reason you don't see male prostitutes is that almost any women can get laid for FREE at almost any time she wants.

All she has to do is go to a public place and announce that she'd like to have sex ... at which point, one or probably more men will immediately step forward and offer to provide the service for free.

That approach generally does not work in the other direction.

This is definitely a touchy subject ... but I'm going to assume we can talk about it.

Growing up, I knew guys who would have had sex with any woman who wanted to have it.

These were not guys who could not find women to have sex with. These were guys who were good looking, who had women available to them, and often more than one woman available to them.

But given the opportunity, they'd take it.

My bet ... If we did research on this ... and we took a "descent looking guy" and a "descent looking woman" and had each publically declare their desire to have sex ... far more guys will show up for the woman, than woman for the guy.

Thu Jan 12, 2012, 07:46 PM
Jan 2012

Actually, in my initial post on this .... I described what a comedian had said.

And that is the extreme you just repeated.

The point I made was some of my friends did not need to lower their standards at all. They were already getting plenty of sex from "high end" women.

In one view, they had almost NO standards. If there is a woman who wants sex, and I have the TIME ... sure, I'm in.

Speaking in generalities, I don't know many woman who take that position.

And so to restate this ... men who "struggle" to find sex partners will not have any success simply declaring that in public. But women who "struggle" to find sex partners will have more success if they declare they want sex.

This is a discussion of relative outcomes.

That "relative" aspect was my larger point, but I probably didn't make that clear enough earlier.

An unattractive man who wants sex, may have to pay for it.

An unattractive woman who wants sex, probably won't have to pay for it.

If we assume "paying" means money.

At the end of the night, an unattractive guy at the bar will not be approached by a woman (usually).

But at the end of the night, an unattractive woman at the bar is more likely to be approached by a man.

Again, I'm over generalizing.

One way to view this ... Women tend to set higher standards. And men are willing to lower theirs more quickly.

There is undoubtedly little market for this. It seems to be aimed at men, so that female prostitutes are for straight men and male prostates for gay men.

Straight women don't seem to patronize male prostitutes - has anyone ever heard of lesbian woman hiring female ones?

It's like women don't think of buying sex - maybe it's the safety issue. A woman is more likely to feel vulnerable.

Males I would think might be able to go into the escort business - they'd have to be licensed in some way though.

I would say that that is the key, right there.

We are not barraged with the idea that men are things. We prefer to relate to them as people. (And once again, just for clarity, I'm speaking generall... macro level here again... not all women or all men conform to either type.)

Is it possible for one person to see another person, think that person is attractive, and at some level at least, want to have sex with that person, and still not see that person as a mere "thing", or object?

And having no-strings sex with someone you don't know, you just think they're attractive and want a ONS, that is also not using the person as a thing, IMO. (Other people, including feminists, would disagree with me, just stating my opinion.)

The situation (for me) changes when you exchange money in order to gain access to their body. Once you do that, you have crossed the line from treating them like a person to a thing. You're pretty much renting their body. Some people conflate this with any other kind of hired work. But this isn't providing a service (cleaning, cooking, etc), this is allowing someone to actually physically use your body as if it were a tool. Like you'd rent any other object.

It could be due to being female, but I would never think of sex with even the most handsome man until I knew more than just that he was handsome on the outside. Ted Bundy was thought to be handsome. If men can look at a woman and think it would be cool to have sex just because of her looks, they must feel quite safe and in control - though that could be wrong too. There are deadly women out there!
