People who don't like masks or vaccines are also often people who defend such practices as armed self-defense and standing your ground. Maybe they'd get the message if we treated maskless assholes as the dangerous threats they are, and used weapons to make them keep their distance. I suggest a seven foot spear, or at least a pointy stick.

(102,240 posts)though I never touched anyone with it, I extended it to show what appropriate distance was several times for people behind me in line, politely but firmly, followed by an "I must insist!" if they seemed to be intent on arguing. Would I have been prepared to swat someone back with it if necessary? Yes. Along with pulling out my keychain with its slim, yet handy canister of pepper spray. I am fortunate not to have experienced such escalation.
It helped in my locale that we had both a statewide masking mandate preceded earlier by a city-county mandate.
