Here's another winner in our ER (New England)

70-year-old lady and her husband walked into our ER waiting room at 2 AM this morning and she is complaining of chest pain going through to her back with nausea and vomiting. Tells registration that she has Covid diagnosed last week. Not only is she and her husband not wearing masks but they got angry when they were told they had to wear a mask if they had Covid. They stated “we don’t have masks“. Further, they should not of even walked into the waiting room as signs outside tell them to not enter the waiting room area if they have Covid or signs of Covid, but to call for instructions. Now our waiting room is contaminated.

These people are the most selfish people I have ever seen in my life. Our whole ED staff is demoralized because of people like them. They spread Covid and don’t care about anyone but themselves.

What do you do in a situation like this? The lady needed help but she and her husband were non-compliant.

And putting everyone else at risk.

Can you at least ask the person who is not in distress to leave?

11. I think she is probably following her husband's lead.

She masked up and we are still treating her - she is feeling better. Had her fever, cough dyspnea and diarrhea last week, now mostly dehydrated and nauseous.

We kicked her husband out and he will wait in the parking lot until she’s done. It’s nice that we have reinstituted the no visitor rule. Gives us better control over such situations.

Security is on premises and will get involved with unruly patients and families. Police are just a phone call away.

If they are non-compliant, they usually show themselves the door.

She had been seen here a week ago and dx’ed with Covid. Told to quarantine for two weeks. Husband certainly exposed. How they can walk around in public without masks is just insane. But they are typical of their ilk. I am tired of fighting with them.

First it was the environment. Clean air and clean water we're suddenly left wing. Then concern over the climate was socialist.
Now the cure for Covid is a plot against liberty, and masks are some kind of goddammit emblem of tyranny.

I know a lot of this is Russian authored disinformation, starting with the anti Vax movement, and helped along by Facebook.

But it's all so fucking stupid. Yet millions are buying in.
I'm supposed to transform this scenario into a winning election strategy but it all looks more and more like a scene from idiocracy.
