By their nature, Democrats do not like to "wrap themselves in the flag". That is something that tyrants do.
But, the times are different. The Republican Party is supportive of insurrectionists that have attacked our Capitol, our country, our democracy, our way of life. There is nothing wrong with "patriotism" that wants to defend those ideas.
Some might say we have a duty and responsibility to challenge those that would attack those ideas and principles?
Republicans have not been patriotic. They have disgraced our country in many ways. They should be ashamed but they are not.
In my opinion, Democrats should not be hesitant in pointing out how they have attacked our democracy and our country. They have dishonored our nation.

By working to pass this infrastructure bill, inviting any one in the Senate, listening to those who really care, President Biden laid down the welcome mat for anyone who wants to join in.
George Conway was on Joe this morning. He said, Good Republicans need to hope President Biden succeeds!

Kneeling on necks, attempted coups, kidnapping governors, the big public lie, is not it.

At 64%, Democrats were more likely than Republicans, at 43%, or independents, at 42%, to express concern about voter disenfranchisement, reflecting a concern within the party about voter suppression after several cycles.

(16,192 posts)Its unpatriotic to cozy up to authoritarians
Unpatriotic to defend white nationalism.
Unpatriotic to allow people of very low character like Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Three Names to stay in Congress.
Unpatriotic to deport a soldier who served honorably.
Unpatriotic to hire campaign management on the payroll of enemy country.
Unpatriotic to suppress voting.
Unpatriotic not to ask Americans to do what they can do for their country.
Surveys of international respect for the US plummeted when the republicans had the White House. If your friends are telling you the guy youve selected is a no-good abusive person and you can do better, you maybe should take a closer look and see if they are right.

They are the patriots. They also should point out who, exactly, wants to defund the police. In simple. Plain. Language.
