Will immunocompromised need a fourth vaccine if vaccine efficacy diminishes beyond 8 months and a booster shot is recommended?

(102,263 posts)and of course infection/hospitalization rates among the overall group of immunodeficient receiving a third dose--as well as the subgroups.
Given the third dose is being administered beginning NOW--odds are that there will not be a recommendation (within the coming months when the general public receives the third dose) for a "4th" dose for this group.
Get your third dose now, if you qualify and keep masking. Upgrade your masks if possible.

So I personally was never expecting the one set of shots to last 10 years or 20 years. I was expecting that as long as covid is a problem, I was going to need to keep getting boosters every year, or maybe more often.
We are super fortunate to HAVE a vaccine that works, and blessed that scientists figured out how to make it and that we are in a rich country where it is available.
