and there have been several GOP leadership say that this is a president weaker than Carter and the 70s. With Russia and the Trump administration friendly with the Taliban, I have a bad feeling that we will see a hostage situation before this is over and it will be drug out until the next election.

(12,904 posts)That whoever planned this little caper wanted to put American military under the control of the taliban, in some fashion. They thought Biden would cave, and leave a limited force in Afghanistan. With taliban in power, our forces would have to work with them if we had stayed there. That would have looked terrible for the president, and would have probably put an enormous dent in morale. My opinion.
Thanks, President Biden, for not putting our military in that position.

(3,401 posts)While speaking about Afghanistan and said that this administration is Carter and the 70s on steroids. They are praying that hostages are taken and just as the GIP did in Iran, they will work with the Taliban to hold them through the election.

(3,401 posts)There have not been hostages but McCarthy fully intended to say so on national tv to either plant a seed into others mind or to perpetrate a gals narrative that would be way to debunk. There is always a strategy, a method to the madness. That was my point.
