(436 posts)Got a lot of rain from Fred. We never really had bad flooding though. The people in the low laying areas got some. Our house is at over 3000 ft altitude

(39,343 posts)As we were digging out and trying to salvage belongings, we saw a china cabinet with a couple small tea cups on top. The tea cups were filled with water but in perfect condition. The biting flies took us apart for the 4 days we had before the place was condemned. So glad we had connections at the city. It was a mess. Everything around that beach town was smashed.
And it's only going to get worse.

Strong windows.
Put two layers of tin on all the windows.
No plywood.
No power for two weeks.
The sound is the worse thing.
The heat.

(436 posts)The sound is terrifying
Texaswitchy
(2,962 posts)We used tin because the line for plywood was long.
It easy was to put up.
Long screws.

(268,966 posts)Rain associated with Ida has been falling here from Wednesday - sometimes steady, sometimes heavy. You should see some of the flooding in some parts of Jamaica.
