A violent attempt to overthrow the government and murder our elected leaders is not a day at the beach, and deserves much stronger treatment than what weve seen so far. Wheres the deterrent?

(1,109 posts)Perhaps we need to have this insurrectionist business handled by the Wolff, Wick, Bourne, and McCall firm.
Here is a relevant quotation from John Wick - Chapter 2:
John To Winston: Tell them. Tell them all. Whoever comes, whoever it is, I'll kill them. I'll kill them all.
Winston To John: Of course you will.

(15,124 posts)convicted are treated. I do not think a "no jail time" disposition coupled with little or no monetary restitution is appropriate for anyone who trespassed beyond the police barriers on January 6th.
These are seen as "slaps on the wrist" and are eroding respect for the law among law-abiding citizens. Yes, it takes time to get convictions, but if defendants who took part in an attempted coup are not incarcerated for some period of time once they are convicted, why bother?
Is there any doubt that if January 6th had involved a similar size group of BLM protestors, a much more "aggressive" attitude would prevail in prosecuting the SURVIVORS?

(12,118 posts)Getting out of jail for a vacation or a wedding, for example, isnt much of a deterrent.

(15,124 posts)The "penalties" in many cases were ridiculously lenient---IMHO, of course.
