.... 93 degrees with plenty of humidity in downtown Detroit today. It's been around or above 90 for a week+. .... I love summer, but I'm sort of looking forward to a Michigan fall.

(759 posts)Been 90+ and humid for weeks. Very little rain, the small lawn is getting crunchy.
Born SE Wisconsin, moved to Indiana at 45. One of my favorite 3-4 day getaways was a trip to the UP. Stayed at a cabin on the Keweenaw Peninsula, 20 feet off Lake Superior. We managed to hit the fall colors at their peak. I vividly remember the road was freshly paved asphalt - pure black, and the lane stripes were a brilliant yellow. The sky was an intense blue, and the trees varied from yellow to red. T-tops were off the car, temperatures around 68 - 72. The strongest drugs I had in my system were a couple of cups of coffee, but the experience was psychedelic.
That evening after a grilled steak dinner with a nice bottle of wine, my husband and I sat on the porch under a blanket with the dogs, watching the ore boats passing back and forth.
I like fall.

I'm definitely looking forward to the the fall! I go to CMU for Homecoming every year. I try to do a color tour while I'm up that way.

(4,986 posts)I went for some groceries tonight, and when I came out of the store, it was stifling with absolutely no air moving! It felt like someone had dropped a blanket over me and like the weather that precedes a tornado.
