9. Funny story. Family member was offered a WH post

He turned it down. He wanted to go hard core. He saw a lot in Iraq. Bad stuff.

His grandfather (also a Marine) was beside himself when heard that he’d turned down the WH. Not because of the prestige but as he told me, “I looked him right in the eyes and said ‘Do you have any idea how many women a guy like you can get in DC!?!?” - I cleaned that up a bit.

I was on a car ferry 'twixt Delaware and Cape May New Jersey, no visible land.

People casually milling about on open deck during big lightning storm.

Very big, tall, heavy lightning bold on ship. All the many area bolts just went right to the rod.

Asked a crew member of what the risk was. He simply said, 'there's never been any problem.'
