Apple (AAPL.O) said on Monday that "The Problem With Jon Stewart" will launch on its Apple TV+ streaming platform on Sept. 30 and sees Stewart taking a deep dive on a single issue of national importance.
In each of the one hour episodes, Stewart, 58, will hold discussions with people affected by a particular topic and talk about "tangible steps that can lead to a solutionary path forward," Apple said in a statement.
The show will appear every other week and will be accompanied by a weekly podcast with the same name. It will include "lots of jokes," Apple said.

(5,251 posts)Media is more and more becoming the venue of the wealthy. If you want a certain quality show, you have to subscribe. Too many offerings these days. Too much nickel and dimeing.

(11,534 posts)I thought about whether to continue, they have a few shows I like but only a few. They did offer paying yearly which save 2 months $4.99 a month or $50 a year. So I bought a year and will see how I feel next year.

(2,870 posts)Nickel and diming is correct, but some of them go even beyond that. Nickel and Diming is me wanting the Discovery at 4.99... others are 20 and 30+... like Netflix and Prime. Those are the two I have. I get HBOMax because we get HBO on TV. I refuse to give any more money to any more streaming services simply because of the breakout of one or two shows that might be good on a "new" streaming channel.
I'd say just wait and the smaller ones will eventually either drop out or merge with larger ones. Except, this course started differently than any other new idea. Usually you start out with small and they merge with large until one or two venues have the whole shebang.
With streaming (not counting YouTube), we started out with the two biggies -- Netflix and Prime. NOW we're getting the little 5.00 here, 10 bucks there. And I'm not sure how it's gonna shake out in the end. Does it follow the established format of little being merged with the big? Or are we going to see some completely different paradigm manifest?
I'd like to figure it out so I can wait it out a little more patiently. I'm adult enough to get past any need for instant gratification, but it helps to have an idea how it'll all end up eventually.
Any other ideas out there?

(58,785 posts)These days most people want to dig a hole and crawl in, or blow what we have up depending on personality, because they're bombarded with 24/7/365 noise about problems and crickets about great things happening and wonderful new opportunities becoming possible.
I'd want just The Possibility, but the giant markets are those who need their fears explained and negativism fed. There's almost none for inspiring news, no matter how desperately needed.

(70,783 posts)When I first became aware of him I took it at face value that he was one of us, loved it when he zapped the wingnuts, which was most of the time, and gave a pass as his being a comedian when he zapped one of ours, which was little of the time. I never watched more than some minutes here and there, since, except for SNL's Weekend Update, political satire (Onion, Daily Show, BEE) is predictable and does the Fox thing of telling fans what they already know and want to hear.
My first confusion about him was when he guested on CNN's Crossfire, where the format was fierce debate between clear Left and Right, and STEWART ranted that this show was hurting the country. And soon after that Crossfire was cancelled. Yes, division that is now polarization is a problem, but clarity in taking a stand on principles appealed to me, so STEWART made me wary of him as to where he was coming from.
But years later, what tore it for me was when Glen BecKKK staged a stunt of a wingnut rally in D.C. that was supposed to be about "unity" and pseudo-religious and nationalist pandering, and then STEWART decided to do one supposedly from the Left. Both of those circuses left their own adherents dissatisfied, since their fans wanted their own Left-Right red meat and both dudes put on some kind of semi-kumbaya thing. STEWART's was a namby pamby part Renaissance fair thing, with blowing bubbles and the Myth Buster nerds. When it was over, the much maligned here Bill MAHER said, "If you're going to have an event it needs to be *about* something."
So he was then on my No-Like list, and I started wishing that COLBERT would cut the STEWART cord. And then STEWART took it to another level by "reaching out" to O'REILLY, guesting and hosting with each other, which meant to me that STEWART was something of a Third Way dupe, since it was obvious that the wingnuts are scorched earth types who will *NEVER* do anything constructive and that O'LOOFAH was playing him.
Is he a "Problem Solver caucus," Blue Dog, MANCHIN, Third Way - what?!
So, that's why STEWART is dead to me. I shouldn't do the Debbie Downer thing in threads I disagree with, so just disregard if you disagree with my disagreement.

(1,268 posts)things Steward has done. The phony predictable interaction on the show had become laughable. Jon to his credit pointed it out. 💀🤙

(28,867 posts)Both Colbert and he continue to describe Joe as old and somewhat feeble or kinda a jackass is aviator sunglasses.
So I dislike when Stewart appears on The Late Show.
