Are people allowed to get the anti-body treatment, IN PLACE of the vaccination?

(17,105 posts)You could be allowed to get this treatment? Guess i was wrong? THIS surely interferes with the vaccinations given.

(36,216 posts)One can assume that DeSantis, like most Republicans, welcomes any kickbacks.

(1,702 posts)When, eventually , the pandemic will be declared "over" the likes of DeathSantis will claim they were right. They kept their states businesses open and life is just grand BECAUSE of them. Re elect me...make me potus. What the media will ignore are the deaths of old, young and in between that didn't have to happen but did because of the DeathSantis's of America.
That strategy for Covid is also the GQPers strategy for the debt, infrastructure, voting laws. Everything. The media moves on and the information changes and the lemmings and sheep forget.
Rant over.

Wife and I got it last Friday. Both have breakthrough cases. Thur night was rough for me. Still having congestion and a minor cough
We had kids go get it too as they were exposed to us.
But its only temporary. Its not a vaccine.

(36,216 posts)further prop more grifts. Big Corps are big grifts in their own right. Because any temporary good builds their credibility, which shows a bad historical record.
Pro-corps right wingers want their base to believe that their solutions are better than pro-science Lefties.
They all know that the vaccine is available.

(8,387 posts)The Pfizer vaccine was entirely developed independent of government funding.
So, I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around what distinction you are trying to make between a vaccine developed and sold by a corporation and a treatment developed and sold by a corporation.
The vaccines, also, eventually wane in effectiveness.
It would be far more preferable if more people were vaccinated in the first place, but explain to me how that is not a "corporate solution".

(36,216 posts)The anti-covid genetic component, stripped out of COVID-19 by CRISPER Cas9, was the science solution, publicly funded at a CA university; without that, the corporate vaccine delivery system of either Pfizer or Moderna wouldn't have solved anything. Pfizer's strength has been huge batch production. Moderna's strength was more the lab science that had been trial and error trying, but failing, to develop mRNA vaccines. It wasn't until Jennifer Doudna's scientific team out of Berkeley, worked with Moderna's team to put her patented genetic cutting tools to work on COVID-19. So then Pfizer joined with Moderna to produce together a big corporate solution of production and distribution. That could have been their corporate idea or our government's, I don't know.
In terms of corporate solutions, the vaccine couldn't have been produced any sooner than it was due to the FDA's requirements for human testing data -- the government quality assurance part that is not a corporate solution. So Pfizer and Moderna, the biggest, had the best rollout overall, and though it was "emergency authorized" by the FDA, it was a slow logistical problem in December and January, which was a corporate problem. Or maybe a Trump distribution decision, I don't know.
It's true that vaccines wane in effectiveness, but effectiveness is permanent when a booster is available, as with small pox and polio, and that's why it's far more preferable.

(8,387 posts)Regeneron's MAB treatment is, of course, also built on a foundation of fundamental science research conducted by the relevant academic, government and industrial labs as well.
There's nothing in medicine that isn't, in one way or another, connected with public research.
