Sen. Lisa Murkowski gave an impassioned speech Friday on how Alaskas growing coronavirus infection rate has strained the state in unforeseen ways, and she decried protesters comparing mask mandates to actions by the Nazis.
Addressing a relatively empty Senate chamber, Murkowski (R-Alaska) said that she had planned to return home this weekend but that most of the scheduled events and meetings had to be held virtually because of the virus.
We are leading the nation right now in our covid rates, Murkowski said, noting the drop in the Lower 48. Were separated enough geographically, but through the advantages of air travel and road travel, we mix, we mingle, we get around, and the virus knows no bounds.
The United States will soon surpass 700,000 covid-19 deaths a milestone that experts hoped would never have been reached with the availability of vaccines. But low vaccination rates in many parts of the country have played a major role in the continued spread of the virus.

Simple. Many of your party feel it's a hoax.

(40,209 posts)She sees herself as a member of a political party that doesnt even exist anymore. She is certainly a conservative and what used to be a republican, some of her obnoxious votes reflect that. But I also think she is a decent person who knows right from wrong. It would be interesting to know how many republican friends she has in the Senate.

(40,209 posts)How does she reconcile that? It must take a lot of weird logic to convince herself that at the very least she hasnt enabled so much pain, misery, and destruction.

Yes a lot of convoluted and dishonest thought processes at work.
