(58,785 posts)5. It's very far from necessary, Danie. There's no energy crisis in the U.S.,
and energy is the planet's biggest current supply problem for a variety of reasons. The U.S. is a petroleum exporter and also has alternative energy capacity, unlike many nations facing temporary but in some places serious energy shortages as winter comes.
