My local pharmacy is no longer included in most Medicare D plans

I like supporting my local owned Pharmacy. I can always talk to them and they will work with me on prescriptions. I am looking at the Part D plans for next year and less expensive plans have all cut out my local Pharmacy. I currently pay $14 a month for Humana. That is going up to $25 and my Drug Store is now out of network. If I want a plan that includes my local store, I have to pay $40+ a month. All the less expensive plans only use chains like CVS and Walgreens.
It sucks, but it would cost me $hundreds a year to keep my Pharmacy.

The privatization of Medicare Drug coverage under Bush is just another example of how the GOP cannot do anything right, even when they are trying to actually do something good. (which is rare). The yearly changes in every plan is another major FUBAR to the program. I am 66 and can handle it. My 90 year old Father in Law cannot even find the website. Expecting Seniors to do this is cruel.
Part D should have been rolled into Part A & B and Medicare should be administering it.

Not for content. This sucks.

We MUST do better for older Americans. You shouldn't have to pay jack shit for your medications.

I just don't like the whole scheme. My mom is paying through the nose with one of those programs.

guidance.

While I agree Part D is a pain, the fact is that before 2005 there was no prescription drug coverage for Medicare beneficiaries and neither party has tried to improve how it works since then.

Are any other local pharmacies in-network? Have you asked your pharmacy about it? They might suggest another drug plan.

Good luck. I’m fortunate to have Medicare, but it leaves a lot to desire.

let's you see all the plans available and which Pharmacies are in network. As I said, it would cost me over $40 a month to keep my Pharmacy, triple my current premium.
It looks like all the affordable plans only work with chains.

I have only Medicare, without a private supplemental. So Medicare administers my healthcare.
