(13,058 posts)And he voted to remove Trump twice. In truth, he could not win the nomination of either party.

(7,820 posts)If its him v any Republican in the general, Id hold my nose and vote for him, but I dont think he has enough support among Dems to get the nomination

(1,990 posts)He has to show performative defiance against those who oppose corporate and business greed and interests.

(16,844 posts)he wouldn't even carry his home state. So no, he's not running for another office. I don't think he will even run for Senator again.

(50,269 posts)investments growing bigger and bigger and bigger. It's a shame West Virginia isn't covered in solar panels instead of nasty coal mines. Manchin would be all in then if he could bring in the odd million or so a year from it.

(115,683 posts)a snowball's chance in Hell of even getting the nomination, and anyhow he has a lot more power as a single senator who can torpedo the entire party if they don't kiss his ass.

(11,736 posts)If he is looking to run as a Democrat for the Presidency, I can with 99% certainty, say that it will never happen. He will not win against any halfway moderate Democrat. If he is thinking of switching parties and running as a Republican, there are much crazier candidates in that party and that seems to be what the GOP is looking for.
He is angling to keep the coal business that pays him half a million a year and the other companies that pay his campaign coffers the money he needs to stay Senator of WV, alive and well.

(26,731 posts)He wouldnt be a viable candidate outside of WV.

(1,156 posts)His stubborn obstruction to right the ship is putting the nation at risk along with Sinema, they are handing control of the political agenda to the rethuglicants who clearly choose dictatorship over real governance. Manchin is for special interests and not for the majority of Americans. I will not support any run for President by Manchin. He is showing where his loyalties really reside.

(3,401 posts)As a MAGAt he voted for impeachment, as an independent he cant raise enough money for $1billion race and Mitch McConnell wants to crush him. He has a lot of work to do to shore up relationships either way.

(66,328 posts)Repukes want a candidate who's not afraid of the Republican moniker, and Democrats want a real Democrat. West Virginia ranks at the bottom of so many lists in this country; I'm sure 'ability to influence a national election' is probably one of them.
