I think most commercials are stupid though, and an example of how stupid most Americans apparently are, if that kind of shit is effective advertising.

I fast-forward nearly all commercials when I'm watching the TV machine

He’s an openly gay rapper who had a country and western crossover sensation that was #1

They paired two openly gay musical stars.

It got your attention.

That’s called good advertising.

But, yeah, it’s a strange ad. But it’s memorable. Had to look it up, the other guy is rapper-singer Lil Nas X. I thought it was an impersonation of Rick James when I firstbsaw it.

And specifically that they have him saying he's going to eat them with mayonnaise.

If eating them with mayonnaise is weird/exotic/foreign, then shouldn't they be consistent about that cultural difference and have him call them chips?

When I was a kid and was taken to shore restaurants, I ate my fries with tartar sauce which is really just mayonnaise and relish.

That's now an un-watchable commercial that I viewed for the first and only time. The dude who is not Elton John appears to be doing something...well..something other than whatever he is supposed to be doing on whatever he is riding...

I love the Uber Eats ads - all of them. These are entertainers who don’t take themselves seriously in ads that don’t take themselves seriously. I have to do a little bit of research to get the clever interplay among the actors, but then it all kinda makes sense. I wish more ads were as interesting and creative as these are.

One of the first of the modern advertisers. He sold cigarettes.

When first introduced to the RJ Reynolds Board of Directors he stepped up and spat square in the middle of the conference table. "Gentlemen," he said, "that is disgusting, and you will never forget it."

INSTRUCTIONS

I commend you to George Washington Hill.
Living, he gave instructions.
Dying, his instructions are remembered.
In billions and zillions he sold cigarettes.
He told the copywriters and radio gabbers:
"Irritate 'em! Irritate 'em!
They'll forget the irritation
and remember the name of your product."
Tell the stonecutters to cut these lines deep
in the tomb of George Washington Hill.

Followed by a look that said "what the hell did I just say?"

We need more absurdist commercials in this country.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. ~Hunter S. Thompson
