I hate raygun
All this distrust of government to deliver solutions such as the vaccine can all be traced to that asshole. Our collapse of working together as a society is a result of his extreme partisanship. He brought the nutcase evangelicals in and his overt racism has divided America. God I hate him. I just wish some historian would point out his true legacy as opposed to the crap we have to endure every day.

40. It's always been that way.
The hypocrisy is so thick it needs its own supports. As President Obama pointed out once. No business owners or entrepreneur or founding ceo etc ever created anything on their own from the “ground up” with their “own two hands”. They relied on the infrastructure to be successful from transporting their product to the energy to make their product to the means to broadcast their product. Then anytime one of these areas gets a hit from an earthquake or hurricane or their own mismanagement they to fix it or bail them out.
Went off on a tangent rt here… Listening to phuking manchin talk about how he doesn’t want an entitlement society made me want to throw my phone as far as I could (it’s not my phones fault so I didn’t). That AH who has been sucking up every entitlement he can working in government for the last 40yrs, lives on a yacht in the harbor by DC. Who’s family has benefited enormously off government give aways to energy companies and pharmaceuticals. The Dems need to boot him and sinema to the curb for the BS and damage they have done. If they want to switch and be under trumps thumb so be it. They already have. It will get the filibuster out of the way. PB can veto everything and work work work to make 2022 midterms a success. |

26. My Father absolutely hated Reagan
He started the groundwork to make our public colleges more expensive and closed the mental institutions.
When I told my Dad I thought about voting for Reagan after hearing him announce his run for the President he said I’ve have to move out of his house if I voted for him. Then he told me about how he wrecked California and tried to destroy unions also. That was it for me. My Dad used to say, dirty stinkin lousy Republicans whenever he saw Nixon, Reagan and every other Republican while was alive. I’m glad he never lived to see the current evil incarnation of today’s American Taliban. he would have stroked out in anger. |

20. Bingo
the ones running everything were Cheney/Rumsfeld/Pearle/Wolfowitz etc for all eight years. Several got pardons for their crimes by HWBush, then he brought them all into his admin for his four years.
Then, the powers to be in the Republican Party got W appointed and the same crew came in to his administration for eight more years...... The major common threads for twenty years after Nixon were Cheney/HW Bush/Rumsfeld, etc..... The damage they did was irreparable and prepared them to open the doors for Trump/Oconnell to come in for the final trashing of the middle class, the economy, Democracy, and the Rule of Law. AND the Repubs allowed Putin to provide needed actions to help...... WASF |

The real evil was built by others with money and an agenda.
They are still at it today. We know a few of the names: Mercer, DeVos, & Koch among so many more. They built the machine that elevated and selected Trump, and when he lost spread the Big Lie to every GOP State legislature, and every RW propaganda outlet (OAN, FOX News, Newsmax et al). |

My brother remembers that time when he couldn't "buy a job." I recall he had to take a night job, which he hated. It was in his field, but if you're not cut out for working nights, it really messes with your life.
Reagan is #1 on the RG's hate list. And let's not forget that Reagan was a traitor when he made a secret arrangement with the Iranian government to free the hostages as soon as he became president. Robert Parry reported on this: Two decades ago, ex-Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir offered the stunning confirmation that “of course” an October Surprise plot had blocked President Jimmy Carter from gaining the release of 52 U.S. hostages in Iran, thus helping Ronald Reagan win the presidency in 1980, reports Robert Parry. https://consortiumnews.com/2012/07/03/shamirs-october-surprise-admission/ |

paved the way for the propaganda necessary to brainwash the ignorant masses into overt racial hatred, hatred of Democrats, hatred of government, hatred, hatred, hatred.
The reich-wing money men bought up every failing AM radio station in the country, and they found a fat, racist, loudmouth piece of crap to scream into a microphone for four hours each day, about how bad Americans had it, and the immigrants who were the cause of it all. 😳 "Excellence in Broadcasting" they called it. ![]() Things regressed from there, and "the rest is history", so they say, until they found yet another fat, racist loudmouth piece of crap to run for president. History is being written, and re-written, as we sit. |

31. I'm no fan of Reagan, but both sides misquote him.
The FULL quote is the following:
“In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.” “In this present crisis.” That’s very specific. Reagan did not say the government is always the problem, despite the fact that both sides like to think that’s what he said. He said “in this present crisis.” Words matter. |

37. "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the Government, and I'm here
here to help. "
https://www.reaganfoundation.org/ronald-reagan/reagan-quotes-speeches/news-conference-1/ AUGUST 12, 1986 REAGAN QUOTES AND SPEECHES NEWS CONFERENCE During this News Conference, President Ronald Reagan refers to how the government tends to be inefficient, to such a degree that instead of helping, it often causes harm instead. This view expresses the need for a more diminutive form of government where an individual or organization can complete an activity more effectively than the whole government. A few key points are: Government creates unpredictability due to constantly changing policies. The government’s goals sometimes don't align with the nation’s goals. With this ideology, he wanted to create and organize a government of the right size for its people, where both could work in harmony to overcome the crisis. |

33. He wouldn't have had a platform for that argument if Democrats had done better in the 70s...
Nixon got into office because a bunch of liberals decided that there was no difference between Democrats and Republicans in 1968 (sound familiar?) and McGovern was a terrible candidate to run a national campaign in 1972. Six years lost, and huge inflation and geo-political problems left for Carter.

39. Erm, Bobby Kennedy being shot in 1968. That was the inflection point.
He would have defeated Nixon.
1972 was like 1964, basically zero chance for the incumbent to lose. McGovern and Goldwater were disposal sacrificial lambs. Due to their ideological backgrounds being so divergent from their opponents, I feel that too much emphasis is place there. |
