In 2020 Trump lost Virginia to Biden 54.11% to 44.00%.

Trump was a non issue, Younkin didn't campaign with him.

Glenn Youngkin triumphed by winning over a large number of voters who don’t support the former president.

It is a fair question.

A lot of people turned away from the GOP after 1/6.

If you are in South Jersey - that's Trump Country. The losing GOP Gubernatorial Candidate was at the Trump rally down there.

If he's not on the ballot, we shouldn't try to make him an issue. Looking backwards and campaigning about a failed and voted out moron who isn't even on the ballot is a losing strategy. Literally so, we just lost on it yesterday.

6. McAuliffe gave a really good speech last night about actual issues

Admittedly, my memories is stretchy on what the issues were but I think they were:

Raising teacher pay
Women’s reproductive rights
Affordable healthcare

That was the message to drill into on the campaign. If that was the consistent message throughout the campaign, he’d probably be celebrating his win right now. Message that fact that Northam expanded healthcare in the state and GOP would roll that back. Talk about the goal of getting kids fully back in school so parents can go back to work and provide for their families. Fuck Trump. He’s old news. He’s not the Democrats’ boogeyman anymore. The boogeyman is the GOP rolling back healthcare, and women’s rights. The boogeyman is the GOP taking dollars away from schools and not raising teachers’ salaries.

In my mind, this doesn’t seem that hard.
