Small local restaraunt chain here. They're known for a particular type of dressing on their sandwiches. Paper signs taped to front door said they were out it and the reason why was because people don't want to work where they put the dressing in individual packets. The sign later goes on to ask customers not to take their frustration out on employees.
I don't know about you, but I read that as a RW talking point that some Americans are lazy and collecting unemployment and still riding the COVID-assistance gravy train. How else would you interpret that??
A-holes. How about your vendor paying a living wage?
P.S. I DO love their sandwiches with the dressing. DAMN IT.

(7,002 posts)How hard can it be for the restaurant to make its own dressing?
And they are training in-store team to make this week.
Looks like it was a cost savings or efficiency thing to have individual sealed packets versus making batches in the restaurant. Its counter service, fast casual, so high volume.

(7,002 posts)lazy to make their own ahead of time on a regular basis so it doesn't go bad.
I get the convenience part, but to blame one's own lack of initiative on some restaurant supply's staffing issues is some lazy ass thinking.

And if people still don't want to work for you, look within and see why that might be.
And, after all that, if you still can't find any acceptable answers, then just realize that other peoples' lives are other peoples' lives and you aren't entitled to their labor.

(13,988 posts)No one has a god-given right to a successful business. Sometimes it doesnt work out. As you say, people arent required to work for them.
Business models based on low-paid workers doing unfulfilling work may no longer be viable. They need new business models.

It's not the obligation of the citizenry to work for a company, it's the obligation of the company to offer people enough money to provide the service/work the company needs to operate.
Workers don't want to work.....for the amount this company is willing to pay ergo, if the company wants to have that particular role filled the onus is on them to offer more pay.
The job isn't a "favor" they're offering to us, it's a service they need to pay someone to perform. If they're not willing to pay enough for anyone to want to do that job for that amount, it's not the people's fault.

(14,490 posts)When they die of COVID, move back to their home country or are ran off or arrested by DHS, the only public evidence is a "Help Needed" sign. Few Americans can take those jobs because they don't pay a living wage.
We may yet see more restaurants, hotels and food prep businesses closing.

(15,536 posts)There have been times when DU'ers have called for a nationwide workers' strike. This is about as close as one can get to it without actually calling it a workers' strike.
We are seeing results in that many places are having to pay living wages to get help. About damned time, too!
