(9,177 posts)The couple who rented the basement apartment would come home every night and play Donnie and Marie at 3 AM. Polite requests to stop were to no avail.
Three of us were working in Top 40 radio at the time, and had multiple jingle package demos on reel tape laying around. One of us has a Kenwood quadraphonic receiver, and flour large Fisher speakers.
Sooo, one Saturday afternoon we splice several jingle packages together with a long leader on the front, threw the tape on my reel-to-reel, turned the speakers face down on the floor, turned up the volume, hit start and went out for a beer. What followed was 45 minutes of Music Radio WLS. 1260 KYA. Boss Radio 93 KHJ. Very loud.
When we came back an hour later, they were sitting in front of our door begging us to make it stop. Poof! No more nocturnal Donnie and Marie!

(4,552 posts)I live next to a campground have for years. Many years ago they installed a PA system and started playing goat roping music and paging people all weekend. My brother liked Jazz. We went away for the weekend and I had him drag out his big speakers and blast the jazz all weekend. The PA systen never got turned on again. I think it is called communication.

(17,218 posts)THIS MUSIC HAS ALWAYS WORKED FOR ME. No better noise than CANNONS !!!!!
when my neighbors got horrible, i would turn this up FULL BLAST. And I had a WONDERFUL stereo system
WARNING: Cannons may make dogs bark, scare your mom, leave your neighbor dumbfounded, make cats panic, wake you up in the middle of the night shouting at the top of your lungs because you think you are being robbed, scare the crap out of you, and/or blow up your ears and brains; among other things...

(2,738 posts)Every Fourth of July, the Austin Symphony Orchestra played it during the fireworks display. It took awhile to figure out that the concussive cannons instantly made my stomach hurt and my sense of well-being drained away.
After that, we started watching the display from a hilltop far away.

(34,136 posts)Full blast, as load as his boom box could play.
I told him to turn it the fuck off - that that lying piece of shit was not allowed to blast his lies on my property. I should have told the contractor to get that worker off the project. Yeah, he turned the radio off but later he caused significant damage and delayed us moving in for six months. I don't think the damage was truly malicious, I think the guy was just that totally stupid.
The damage - He used too long nails to attach the trim on a wet wall - nailed a PVC pipe twice. The slow leak destroyed the finished wood floor in the master bedroom. They had to rip up the floor (and of course the trim the idiot installed), tear out the bottom of the drywall, replace everything, repaint, refinish, and so on. He also nailed one of the windows in the same room so that had to be replaced.
The wood floor after the leak:
His next job - working in the hardware section at Lowes advising people about what size nails and screws to buy.

(4,167 posts)I know a lot of people like that .hates the federal government, but has essentially been a government worker all their lives .first with the military and then as a civil service civilian ..to top it all off, they hate unions but are represented by a strong one which allows them to be lazy and hard to fire .and you talk about where the real welfare is going, its going to their lazy asses who sit around listening to conservative radio all day and surfing the internet not doing anything at work and getting paid tons of money .but they think just because they go somewhere in business attire that they arent lazy welfare bums

(1,669 posts)This is just another example. To the point that I dont really notice anymore. What else havent they accused others of only to see in their own ranks? If the the GOP makes it a an issue, they must have someone doing it somewhere.
Funny how it always comes up before the GOP story breaks though isnt it. Foreknowledge, preemptive strike? It does work well with the both sides do it arguments they favor.

in the early pandemic days, our voting location of a primary was indoors, crowded and no strong ventilation system. We took our health seriously. i was first in line. but he immediately accepted my recommendation to not go vote when he woke up at midday.. The risk wasnt worth it.

(7,413 posts)Seriously what's up with that. I've experienced this.
I'd rather listen to a neighbor's shitty music. It's easier to tune out. With conversation, it's hard to keep your ear from focusing on it. It's the ultimate noise pollution.

(1,396 posts)My wife gets texts from his wife and that's the only way we communicate. Their story is they want to travel around in a mobile home for a while but I can't imagine just living in a trailer park for the convenience of it. Just about everything they say is a lie or some twisted and odd belief so I suspect that it's not all well in repuke-land.
The aholes flew a confederate flag in front of their house for 2 years and the guy currently has "if you're a liberal you should seriously consider killing yourself" on the front page of his Facebook account. As much as I don't like myself for wishing harm on others, I really resent their threatening my life for years now with Covid and hate speech.

(5,897 posts)We Feds had to submit exemption requests by 11/8, and have to be fully vaccinated by 11/22; if you haven't submitted an exemption request, the discipline process can start on 11/22. It'll take some time to get an unvaccinated Fed off the rolls, but it's more clear-cut than normal indiscipline or misconduct.
I hope the person moves, though.

(21,148 posts)It says on your resume you fork for the government for X number of years. Why did you leave?
I see that interview ending immediately when he admits he quit because he refused to get the vaccine.
He just screwed himself and he doesnt realize it wont be so easily to find a job at a certain age and showing you dont give a shit about your fellow Co workers.
Maybe hell sell his house and move to Texas or Florida.

(58,785 posts)Moving to any red state might increase his prospects, but not necessarily for jobs he'd have to compete for.
Seems likely that employers losing employees now would try to avoid recurrence with the next pandemic threat or other contentious issue.

(13,058 posts)Covid, even an older person with underlying conditions, statistically has a better than even chance of surviving. I understand that you are probably being facetious. But I think it is important to point that out.
But regarding his getting fired. I had thought that government employees who refuse to get vaccinated would be put on unpaid leave but not fired. And if they decide later to get vaccinated they can go back to work. But maybe I had some bad information. That's why I brought this up.
