Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI had a "Washington Post" subscription. I cancelled it last night.
Theyve been publishing some really shit opinion pieces lately from right-wing assholes and this one from Marc Thiessen was the last straw for me:

Have some fucking integrity, WaPo. This is an embarrassment. Allowing this scumbag to promote this juvenile idiocy against the POTUS should be beneath your paper.
As long as this little fucker is employed by their paper, they wont be getting another cent from me. Goodbye and good riddance.

(7,596 posts)A few months ago, they also posted an opinion from Henry Olsen calling Bidens vaccine mandate unconstitutional, which is an outright lie and a dangerous one at that. I let that slide. This was too much for me.

(4,878 posts)I stopped because when I fact checked him, I found he repeatedly misquoted, or quoted out of context those he cited to support his positions. I can deal with other opinions, but Theissen is simply not credible.

(54,447 posts)If it weren't for Helms giving him a job on his staff, Thiessen would have been a senior North Carolina Proud Boy who pumps gas in dirty overalls for a living, and complains about "libbruls" in his sleep.
....
"Thiessen is a graduate of the Taft School (1985), a private prep school in Watertown, Connecticut.[5] He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vassar College in 1989 and completed graduate studies at the Naval War College.[1]
Yes he's vile, but also educated and connected.

(28,277 posts)For exactly the same reason. Way too many talent-free right-wing assholes being given way too much space in the Opinion section.

(51,140 posts)But they are not like the Washington Times or locally for me the News Sentinel. I use to have two options in my city. The other was the Journal Gazette. As it was, the Journal Gazette survived while the NS became defunct. The JG consisted of mostly reporting the news and had more readership. While the NS had more conservative and at times idiotic writers and a lower circulation.
I never subscribed to the NS no matter what offers they provided. And I never submitted letters to the NS. I did submit numerous letters to the JG.

(1,576 posts)I used to peruse the Post's op-ed pages before the paywall went up and was always amazed at reader responses. Thiessen's column always had about 4 to 6 times more comments and 95% of them were rebuttals stating that he was full of shit. He has always been a shill for the hard right.
If he ever did lose his job he could always find a new one at the Washington Times but then he'd be preaching to the choir.
