unrolling the hoarse whisperer

https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1463627203602751489.html
I really can’t spend the next year arguing with people who are somehow AGAINST pushing for better communications from Dems.

So, I’m just going to block anyone peddling stupidity about how sucking at communications is somehow fine, necessary, unimportant or unfixable.
Seriously, I mostly hate Twitter lately.

Before Trump was elected, all of my existential screaming at the movie screen while the people in the horror movie couldn’t hear me happened off Twitter.

I didn’t join Twitter until the election.
It sucked the absolute life out of me.

As someone who understood his narcissistic personality disorder from the jump, that helpless screaming into the wind sucked the absolute life out of me.

The triggering of Trump’s narcissism was PTSDish enough.
I have had very, very similar feelings stirring lately as we stare down a midterm that is setting up VERY badly for us.

And when I raise even a topic I spent my entire adult career being really, good at - communications strategy - I get endless pushback from “my own side”.
I cannot do a year of this.

I truly cannot do a whole year of endless arguments with every stupid asshole with an opinion on the *professional discipline of communications*.

These idiots aren’t only failing to help; they are doing harm.
They are literally trying to get between the people who know what the fuck they’re talking about and the people who very much need to hear it to shut down the conversation.

We aren’t just heading in a bad direction; we have idiots constantly interfering with efforts to fix that.

I am going to say this last thing and then go stand in the cold and stare into the nothingness just to lighten it up:

I have never hated Twitter more than I have hated it lately.

And that isn’t because of the “other side”.
It is because of the arrogant, ignorant stupidity of some people on *ours*.

Today alone, I’ve had a WaPo op-ed writer and an org made up of psychs insist their random guesses about shit they know nothing about were somehow more informed than my *my actual fucking expertise*.
I just don’t have it in me. I’m sorry. I don’t.

It is hard enough suffering through the involuntary learned helplessness we Dems can do nothing about. Voter suppression. Gerrymandering. Disinformation.

That’s hard enough.
I can’t do a whole year of an additional *voluntary layer* comprised of stupid idiots *on our side* getting in the fucking way of people trying to fix problems they are good at fixing.actually skilled and experienced at fixing.

I can’t do it.

I’m going to give blocking a try.
Maybe reducing the volume of absolutely brainless fucking bullshit I see about how better messaging isn’t actually important to people who don’t even know what messaging is will reduce how much I hate the stupid discourse here.

Hey, fingers crossed.
If you’re a bettor, I’d take the under though.

There is a reason the party that is literally trying to give people healthcare and decent incomes and cleaner air and better quality of life endlessly struggles to sell what should be a slam dunk.
And that reason is on full display here on Twitter.

When people obnoxiously reject the idea that being good at talking people into things matters, it is no surprise when Dems aren’t.

Can’t do a year of people obnoxiously arguing against fire trucks while the house burns.
Thank you.

That was cathartic and a long time coming.

Send me all your PayPal’s and I’ll send you your share of the fee for that therapy session.

Good talk.

years ago when the uprising in Iran, cause it was the only way to get information, but don't remember my handle or password. I won't bother because I would surely be kicked off fairly quickly. I have little tolerance for stupidity.

my daughter wanted me to sign up on it so we could communicate messages back and forth

then i realized i was able to reply to tfg tweets and that was very cathartic--spent many an evening posting pics & gifs of nosferatu on his twitter feed, replying and swearing at his insane tweets, and commenting on what a ghoul i thought was

when he was banished i refocused and branched off to the q psychos in congress (and other asshole republicans)

not so much twittering anymore. but i was never kicked off. and i also have little tolerance for stupidity.

...for the media, who should be treating the threat to democracy as THE BIGGEST story of our times, and to the stupidity of the voters who need to be spoon-fed soundbites and bumper-sticker slogans, and maybe just flat-out need to be lied in some cases in order to overcome Republican lies, in order to see how blindingly obvious it is that Democrats are far better for our country that the now-utterly-degenerate Republican party.
