March 6, 2012 Romney said Iran’s ‘route to the sea’ Gaff

“Maybe one of the few bright spots in the Middle East developments in the last year has been the rising of the people in Syria against [President Bashar al-] Assad. Obviously, as you know, Syria is Iran’s only Arab ally in the region. Syria is the route that allows Iran to supply Hezbollah with weapons in Lebanon. Syria is Iran’s route to the sea.”
— Mitt Romney, question and answer session at AIPAC conference, March 6, 2012

but still, Romney could say it in a way that just isn't "buzzwords". I bet he just memorized that, but if asked wouldn't know a thing about any naval agreement or anything.

Standard English, not the bizarre dialect they use with a different set of definitions for the same words.

seems to have a bunch of scripted sentences that he strings into faux answers. Some of it is word parsing stuff like the Swiftboaters used. This one is just weird though.

Wow. If the only time he said this was at the debate, I could believe it was just a brain fart. I will often give someone a pass if they're speaking off the cuff, especially under pressure. But Mittens didn't misspeak, he really doesn't know his geography.

I tend to think he doesn't follow the advice of the people who are running his campaign. It's really weird that he mentioned the Navy and this path to sea. It's like he thinks he thought of a really good brand new idea. I'm gonna get ahead of Obama on an important strategic move... boost the Navy, cut off Iran's path to the sea, and save the world from a nuclear Iran.
