(14,276 posts)The press just wasn't reporting it as a big deal.

(33,643 posts)If someone truly reputable reported this, I'd truly be blown away if the press didn't regard it as a 'big deal'.
And if they didn't treat it as such, then they are so incredibly remiss that I really don't think this country is going to survive.
Not kidding.
This would point DIRECTLY towards an attempt being made on the VP's life.
And very few people had the power to do this.

(10,082 posts)It is just that it was a month ago.

(33,643 posts)IE the anonymous person, in this case.
If someone serious reported that this happened, it should be huge, huge news.
Some random anonymous person saying it happened ... is the problem.
Of course, some random person doing this would constitute a classic 'limited hangout'.

(11,387 posts)Some times sh*t happens - and it is not part of a conspiracy or evil run amuck. This has been reported on before (with what reliability or veracity I'm not sure) - but, even if true - leaves me a long darned way away from the capital police (or security) are implicated in a plot to assassinate the Vice President on Jan 6th. There's still a number of steps twixt here and there - and some detail that needs filling in.

(33,643 posts)Okay.
1) If someone reputable and clearly in the know comes out and says this actually happened, on that specific day, for the first time, and
2) The person who is 'in charge' confirms this was not some WILDLY COINCIDENTAL 'glitch', but rather that they were ordered to deactivate Pence's office key card, on that day ...
Then that is a SERIOUS situation.
Next step is: who gave the order? It would take a HIGH LEVEL person to do something like that. And for it to happen on that day? Sorry, outside the situation where this was just some glitch, if it happened before the Capitol was attacked (earlier in day) and/or was specific to Pence and people close to him ...that is a huge, huge deal.
Honestly I really think that if just #1 happens, it should be considered highly, highly suspicious.
The fact that this was 'put out' but some anonymous person frankly makes me suspicious as well. That is how you 'shield the blow', make it seem like 'old news' when it's actually confirmed. Which it eventually probably would be, if it happened.

(11,387 posts)mechanism employed to target and endanger the VP on that specific day - then, yes, REAL big deal. And you're also correct that, if deliberate, rather than snafu - and if done for the purposes outlined - that wold require somebody fairly high up the food chain. (it would also seem to require some foreknowledge of a bunch of terrorist crazies rampaging through the capital building - which also gives me some real pause ... )

(47,528 posts)And we already know the some members of congress had their emergency buttons ripped of their walls prior to 1/6.
That was reported right away.

(4,616 posts)It was reported on the new just days after 1/6 It's not new at all. Heard about it the same time we heard about the panic buttons being removed etc.

(10,844 posts)During Marc Short's deposition. He was Pence's Chief of Staff and would certainly be in the know.
If confirmed, the news would be explosive. There were other reports that panic buttons had been disabled in certain congressional offices. Prime targets, perhaps?
Ghastly!
