I awakened atypically late at 6:40, and the reason, the REASON I awakened was that I heard the TV on downstairs. I know for certain it was off when I went to bed. I went downstairs and almost unbelievably Fox News is on the TV off the dining room. I cannot fathom how it turned on and how Fox would be the channel
Of course, I grab the remote and say CNN into the voice activated device, and theres CNN with the Philly-born idiot Michael Smerconish on, interviewing some guy, and the first words I hear out of this guys mouth are Bidens disastrous presidency.
Now Im really upset, and I say TCM and lo and behold theres an old Batman serial from 1949. I watched the last few minutes of that, made my eggs, fed the dog, not in that order of course and began my day .
I am not certain, but it is conceivable that the guy next-door, who I firmly believe is a Trumper, may have used his remote on his TV and the device happens to coincide with mine. Its the only explanation I can Come up with right now, and I am virtually certain I did not sleep walk, turn on the TV, change it to Fox, and go back to bed.
Weird shit, man

(15,087 posts)I have cable and have asked more than once to have it taken off the lineup. I don't want to pay for it, nor do I want it to sully the air in my home. And I get the same answer every time. It comes as part of a package and you can't pick and choose your stations.

I thought of that, which did not happen, because all the clocks would have gone to 12 midnight, but why would the set reset to Fox
Polybius
(15,407 posts)My bedroom clock can go 5-8 seconds without power. However, my stove can't. Even 1 second and it resets.
It could also be a power outage just in your living room, but that still doesn't explain Fox, unless you accidentally put it on when you shut it off. Is it near any other channels that you watch? Over here, Fox is 618 and CNN 600.

So those signals can travel...

Now I'm watching Yogi and haven't touched a thing. No aliens slide down the walls like shadows, and the neighbor still hasn't figured out how to bother me. So, for the important part -
I must have been blind. The neighbor has figured it out!
Next time will we see someone pretending to be a pedestrian? Stay tuned in next week. Same bat nonsense.

of...1940 Superman cartoons that were in the theaters then. I have all of those that were made, on video tape, and some
of those toons are really ...........SUPER..... (sorry, had to say that one)...Some of the toons are very well constructed,
and quite artistic. Some studio made them over the course of 3 or 4 years. Someone decided to put them on video tape,
and Stuart bought a whole lot of video tapes back then. Had to share that about old Superman Toons from the 40s..
.......Of course many will not believe it.....But..."Look In the Sky, Is It a Bird or a Plane, ..It's ...SUPERMAN"

(38,421 posts)lots & lots of video tapes. Back then, the tapes were on sale, and I bought animated TV Shows. But also
sold were movies of all kinds (just like today)..I got a copy of one of my favorite films, "Singing In the Rain" and
many others. An old film from the 40s "Arsenic and Old Lace" and documentaries, & TV shows, as well as movies.
After a while there were sales, and you could get tapes for 2 for $10.00. Yes, there were countless tapes of all
kinds...Yes...'ALL KINDS" so I won't go into particulars. Haven't looked at one for a while. Time to go look at
the video tapes before they rot out....and thank you for reading this... Stuart

Seems I had been repeating the same question over and over to my son who got concerned and talked with the husband. Husband said I was still acting strange, did not remember things I had known the day before.
The ER ran tests, thinking I had had a stroke or something, but everything came back normal. They diagnosed me with transient global amnesia, which they say rarely happens. It's an interesting diagnosis if you look it up on the internet.

I do believe in paranormal events, but theres likely a normal explanation.

(349 posts)on nearly all remote controls you can lock or block a channel so that you have to use a password or 4 digit number to watch, or see the channel on the list of available channels. Should be under settings as a parental control. As a bonus, you might be able to block your neighbor's Fux channel, also!

Did you have a bad power glitch at your house?
If you have a "smart" TV, it may have been hacked.
See: https://techpenny.com/smart-tvs-hacking-stay-safe/
Quote: "Smart TVs are one of the most hacked devices that can connect to the Internet."
Should you detect unusual activity from your smart TV, the first thing you should do is log out of all your accounts.
After logging out, access those accounts from another device and change passwords.
You should enable two-factor authentication when possible.
Once you have secured your account, go over the recent activities or logins of your account and look for the suspicious activity so you can block it.

They can also take control of your unsecured smart TV. Low-risk threats include changing channels, adjusting the TVs volume and showing kids inappropriate videos. Worst-case scenarios include turning your bedroom TVs camera and mic into a stalking spying device. Yikes!
Even if hacking didn't cause your event, we got to learn some things about smart TVs today!
Could have been worse like a rerun of a Ronco infomercial. Nothing worse than waking up and hearing Ron Popeil on the TeeVee.....

going to the movies was a full night's deal. You would get the main feature and coming attractions, but you would also get one serial chapter, at least one cartoon, and a newsreel (kind of a Daily Dose of Internet for world events).
The serial Batman & Robin (1949) would be cut and repackaged into a feature film, An Evening with Batman and Robin, in 1965, and its success no doubt inspired the famed 1966 TV series. There's a full Rifftrax version of the serial if you're into that.
An earlier serial, simply titled Batman, was released during wartime. It's not without its charms, but if you watch it brace yourself for the anti-Japanese racism, which kicks in from the opening narration.

(11,686 posts)about half a year ago I turned my TV and sound bar off and left. I came back 4 hours later and the TV and sound bar was on.
Note: the sound bar and TV have to be operated by different remotes.
I know damn well I turned them off and the remotes were in the exact same place as I had left them.
It wasn't the cats because it would be almost impossible to turn them both on because the remotes were not near each other. By that I mean they did not step on them both.
Where my apartment sits there is not enough direct path for the apartments next door to do either an accidental or intentional activation. There is a fence and thick ivy between us also.
The channel was different than what I had on but I can't remember which one. It was not a news channel though.
The cats weren't freaked like they would be if someone had come into my apartment.
I know damn well everything had been locked and barred.
It was freaky.
Having fox news on would have made it worse.
