In the long baggage-drop queue at Logan just now, I come face-to-face with a woman wearing a mask with that horrible Brandon slogan. I am wearing my beautiful RBG mask--black with white lace trim. I give her a stare that I wish would cause spontaneous combustion; she pretends not to see me.
Later I'm on the moving sidewalk and she whizs by me in one of those little golf-cart transports.
I don't see her coming onto my flight...yet. I'm imagining that she has the seat next to me.
Update: A man just sat down. Thank goodness.

(5,126 posts)Although, I have to say that I think that, if she had sat down beside me, I would have politely greeted her, and once the plane got airborne, I would have taken out my tablet, gotten on the wi-fi, and started watching any and every doc on that orange gibbon's attempt to overthrow the government. I would have checked in on updates for the 6th commission and I would have sat there nodding and laughing at his posturing cronies (and him) for the entire flight! I would have never engaged her, even if she tried to start a conversation. I would have, in the immortal words of Dr. Phlim Bustlebook, "Just wave and nod your head!" But, that is just me...
(That is a character in an audio production I did many years ago. He was basically a southern gentleman-type who always followed the rules of civility, especially when he had to deal with idiots, or get out of a bad situation.)

(4,659 posts)I truly don't know what I would have done. I always watch a movie on Delta flights (I just watched Crooklyn), so I hope I would have been able to stifle my contempt and ignore her. If she spoke, though, all bets are off.

(21,447 posts)I would not take a flight these days. Turned down a Christmas invite from an out of town relative. Will not join friends locally this year either. A couple of them have decided against boosters because they don't want the side effects again.
I will not go to candlelight church service on Christmas Eve, either. I had planned on it after I got boosted, but omicron changed my mind.
This year Christmas will be 2020 Christmas deja vu all over again.

(11,457 posts)Got real sick with second shot lasting 5-6 days. Forced myself to get booster and only felt bad for one day which wasn't as bad as before. Did arm exercises I read about and that pain went away quicker too.

(21,447 posts)are infected now for me to risk Christmas get togethers.
Infected people now include Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker as well as 2 cabinet members.
It's bad enough that I have to go in person to stores to buy what I need. I cannot afford the extra fees for home delivery.
I live in an apartment building where some are not vaxxed and those who are vaxxed have not had boosters. Nobody in the building wears a mask. So, each time I go to the laundry room or into the elevator, or just into my hall is a risk. I don't need to take on extra ones.

(11,457 posts)Just about telling them to get booster. Hubby and I stayed home alone thanksgiving and now for Christmas. Our kids are all in next state over and despite some gentle prodding by daughter, aren't you going to see gramma? We are still staying home. I feel bad about mom in her 90's but my daughter going to see her on both holidays.
They are all vaccinated but no room for us at her condo and not staying in hotel now or hanging with them since they all work fulltime. My daughter gets tested weekly at her job now ever since few people got covid last summer.

Edit: I just searched Amazon, and there is one similar, in a pack of three different designs. eBay has dozens too.
