But they are different from US. Their delta wave went up fast and came down fast. US is still on its delta wave.
If omicron is milder (on a lever of an individual) it will still infect more and as a result kill more people overall. Let say it kills five-fold less infected people than delta, but infects 10-fold more people than delta. You still end up with 2-fold more dead people.
