Just a reminder ...

... although I'm sure most DUers don't need reminding ...

Please donate what you can to your local food banks. There are many families whose only wish this Christmas is to share a good meal with their children, their relatives, and their close friends.

I realize that every charitable organization is deserving of our attention year-round. But at this time of year, the gift of food is an especially worthy cause.

Contact your local food banks to find out what items are particularly needed in your community, as these needs may vary from one area to another.

Remember that passing up a favourite specialty coffee or other treat, and donating the price you would have paid for it to a food bank, could mean a world of difference to someone in need.

Also consider that the great aunt (the one you never know what gift to give her) might be thrilled to be told that a donation was made in her name.

Let's do this, people - let's make sure that no one goes hungry on Christmas. And after we do that, let's fight to make sure that no one goes hungry ever.

So, that has caused me to make sure I do so to each. But, our local food bank is also among my donations this month. I'm reminded because one of their trucks passes me every morning pre-dawn walking my pup to the dog park. They do great work. GO LOCAL!

A number of years ago the cost of trees had risen so high, we decided to donate the money to a food bank instead, and just get an indoor wreath for some scent and greenery.

Less mess inside too, and people get fed. It's been a win-win.
