It began as a night of considerable promise for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The defending Super Bowl champions had an opportunity to clinch the NFC South title and secure their first regular season victory over the New Orleans Saints in quarterback Tom Bradys two seasons with the franchise.
It didnt exactly work out as hoped. Not even close. When tailback Leonard Fournette and wide receivers Chris Godwin and Mike Evans exited the game with injuries, Brady was left with far too little help on offense. His growing exasperation showed as he and the Buccaneers lost to the Saints, 9-0, on Sunday night in Tampa.
I dont think we were much good [at] anything tonight, Brady said. I wish it was just one thing. It was a lot of things. So weve got to do better in every facet of offensive football to score points. Were not going to win scoring no points.
Brady was shut out in a home game for his team for the first time in his NFL career. All told, it was the third time hed been shut out in a game. The other two instances came while he was with the New England Patriots, most recently in 2006.

(3,493 posts)Why would he? This is a person who expects and is used to excellence from himself and his teammates all the time. When it doesnt happen, its extremely frustrating.

(8,203 posts)turn into a super charged team, and it did not happen overnight..just ask a Patriots fan when the transformation started..Brady came in, and Bill massaged all the skills of those who play.
I remember Sullivan Stadium, and Foxboro Stadium..then Gillette..the concession area roof would leak when it rained, for heaven sake..a mediocre stadium transformed into a super bowl venue..
No, Brady did not look good last night..we are convinced there is something wrong..we hesitate to speculate..but, we have watched Brady for many years, and something is wrong..
We are always Patriot fans, but, we are Brady fans as well, he brought so much enjoyment to New England, he challenged each of us to do our best, and demonstrated how to do it..Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins all lifted at the same time..just a WOW era..
Remains to be seen if "I didn't come this far, just to come this far", still stands in Brady world..
