6. Serious question...are there still meet-ups?

I was thinking about this just the other day. Back when, they were pretty common among DUers….

Just wondering.

12. "White colored black bear"

“The term "Kermode" does not simply refer to any white colored black bear. The Kermode bear is a genetically distinct subspecies of black bear in which about 10% of the population is white, but the black members of the sub-species are still Kermode bears. White bears can also be found in other populations of black bear, but they are much more rare. For example, there is a white bear at the Calgary zoo that was found orphaned near Elkford, BC; about 1000 km from the coastal habitat of the Kermode bear.

In the r/pics thread for this photo, somebody mentioned that this photo was taken in Minnesota, which would make neither of these bears Kermode bears. I haven't been able to find any credit for this photo confirming the location, but the vegetation certainly doesn't look typical of the temperate rain forest of the BC coast where Kermode bears are found.

TL;DR, not all white black bears are Kermode bears. Not all Kermode bears are white.”
