(51,308 posts)What the actual hell?
Mr.Bill
(24,319 posts)He may have tested negative on Friday. I would be willing to bet Biden was wearing a mask when he was on the plane.

(51,308 posts)Ive seen him hugging people, even children who cant be vaxxed. Shame thats a problem, but its just a fact of life right now.
Mr.Bill

(24,319 posts)I just saw video of Chuck Schumer walking down a hallway surrounded by press who were asking him questions and he was holding his mask in his hands. When he stopped speaking he looked like he was starting to put it on.
Something else I have noticed is a lot of people in congress and the White House are wearing cloth masks. With the new variant being so transmittable, N95s are needed. When Jen Psaki walked up to he podium, she was wearing what appeared to be a black cloth mask. When she removed it I think a saw what looked like an N95 white mask behind it.

(34,087 posts)I teach every day wearing a mask. It's called putting safety first.

Mr.Bill
(24,319 posts)anyone told him to do. He was well known to demand people remove their masks when speaking to him and not wear one himself.

(34,087 posts)It cares whether you are exposed to COVID in sufficient quantity to become infectected. Testing is not sufficient to prevent COVID - loose cannon or not. It requires mask wearing, a good ventilation system, etc.
Biden and Harris should be leading by example - the same criticism I had of Trump, albeit to a lesser degree. I have seen both too many times in indoor spaces not wearing masks. I will be very surprised if it turns out Biden was wearing a mask on AF1.

This is the most contagious thing scientists have ever encountered.
I just tested positive today. I got my booster about 6 weeks ago. I had Covid last year too. I wear a mask, and mostly just stay home. Best as I can tell I got it from somebody at the grocery store. Omicron is a game changer.
And so far its no fun. Worse than whatever version I had in the Fall of 2020. But reports are chances of severe Covid are very low for vaccinated people.

(7,637 posts)I too am fully vaccinated and boosted. So far my wife has tested negative. Im camping out in one end of the house, she on the other end. Mild symptoms but its a drag having to isolate 10 days..

(58,785 posts)since the CDC says breakthrough infections are "likely to occur." Sigh.

(34,087 posts)but I've got some kind of creepy crud since yesterday morning that feels slightly different from a cold - especially since my temperature just hit 100 (not normal with a cold).
So a November cancer diagnosis (including surgery on 12/14 and 12/29) and COVID stole Christmas last year - and COVID appears poised to steal it this year.
I'll do another antigen test tomorrow, along with a PCR test. But my parents have already just decided to drive up, hand off food and presents on the doorstep on Thursday rather than risk it.
Here's my risk: Shopping in Costco Thursday, masked, for about 2 hours (about half of the shoppers were masked). I had my mask off for about 2 minutes in the cafe area (long enough to snarf a hot dog), and for about 10 minutes on Friday in a 2-story space at least 10' from anyone else similary unmasked on Friday. At the Friday event I did sit (with my mask on) within 5' of someone who was unmasked for 15-20 minutes, who learned halfway through the event on Friday, that she was exposed earlier in the week. (She was heading off to find a COVID test, but probably didn't find one until today.) The 1st year students at my school also decided to share COVID during finals (last day 12/11) by studying togehter in the cafeteria area unmasked (the only space where masks are allowed to be removed). But that's likely too long ago.
That's it since Thanksgiving (all vaccinated, all boosted, at the Thanksgiving events - vaccination was the ticket for admission).
