(12,592 posts)There's nothing wrong with his "shooting form"
But some ranges may have rules AGAINST
1) Rapid Fire
2) "Dual Wielding"

(23,323 posts)10 years ago I predicted that a time would come when no Republican could run for office without a video of them shooting a gun into the sky like Saddam Hussein. We are almost there.

In new undercover video, we ask Rep. Madison Cawthorn if it's time for 2nd Amendment solutions to the stolen election. He tells us "we're obviously headed in that direction" and if we get there, he'll be leading the charge.

(4,131 posts)I dont see anything inherently unsafe with his actions, however some ranges ban rapid fire mag dumps and others consider them to be poor range etiquette, even if not expressly forbidden.
Theyre also very expensive. Ammo isnt cheap these days.

(584 posts)And rule #35 for sure:
35. All shooting should be in a safe and controlled manner. Shooters World does not permit dual wielding or two-gun shooting at any time. No uncontrolled, rapid-fire is permitted. Damage to the facility will result in a fee and discharge from the range. Damage to the ceiling and lights will result in a $25 fee and potential discharge from the range.

(2,205 posts)At least at the ranges I go to, most do not allow rapid fire like that.

(9,940 posts)fired a gun, but I've always wanted to go to a shooting range just to try my hand at it. After seeing that display, I'm thinking not. Do they have places for normal people to go to work on accuracy? Or just to learn how to shoot?

(34,187 posts)Ive never been to a range that forbade shooting two pistols at the same time.
Its a little bit yahoo but sometimes people shoot guns just for the fun of it - not for marksmanship. He does appear to keep both muzzles pointed downrange well.
I did that once when I bought a matching pair of Steyr M9s (best pistols I ever bought for under $400). I couldnt aim well so i didnt do it again.

(584 posts)It looks to me like he points the second gun at the girl to his left when he draws his second gun from the shoulder holster.
I could be wrong, but it is close enough that I would stop him and advise him that is muzzle discipline leaves something to be desired.
I'd supply him with a table he could use for storage, but that cross-draw stuff would cease.
Or I'd reposition him to the far left lane where there would be no other shooters for him to sweep.
Note: ANYBODY can yell CEASE FIRE! at a range if safety requires it.
There should be a Range Officer present to stop any of this dangerous gun handling.
And a responsible RO would fix this fast!

(3,064 posts)You are not pointing the weapon downrange (basic range rule), it's loaded, and the direction you ARE pointing it is at/near other shooters.
Lucid Dreamer
(584 posts)The gun is pointing uprange in the holster.
Gun comes out of the holster pointing at least at lady's legs and I think he even sweeps his own arm at one point.
The hollywood shooting is just an add-on.
All of this just to get the craziness on video is crazy.

(3,064 posts)Actually missed the cross-draw the first time. "Where the heck did THAT gun come from?" Watched it again, caught the draw. A no-no on every range I've been to. At cowboy shoots, you have to "sashay" to cross-draw. For a rightie, you have to turn your body to the right, so the holster is pointed downrange, then draw. A no-turn draw will get you kicked out of the event.

(3,334 posts)What are the two idiots on his left that are creeping up past him? The range we go to has individual places for each person and you have a shelf in front of you.
The ones I've been to would not allow two weapons at once, and every indoor I've been to don't allow shots faster then 1 second apart.
Well-managed ranges will have signs posted prominently with rules that cover their policies and restrictions.
Customers have the right and duty to bring violations and unsafe practices to the attention of the management.
If they show any reluctance LEAVE for your own safety. [And I would communicate in writing to the management if they didn't show a willingness to correct safety considerations.]

(792 posts)No physical barriers between the shooters.
It sounds like someone is firing an automatic weapon.
Rules are normally very strict about loaded weapons (they should only be loaded when the shooter is firing them). Generally all weapons at the range should have the action open and be unloaded, pointing away from all people.
There's a much higher chance of an accident with so many people playing around in close proximity. That sort of behavior should be saved for when you're alone in the middle of nowhere, if there's any place for it at all.
No one should be doing any "trick" maneuvers in a situation like that. I would definitely classify pulling out an armed weapon while firing another as a "trick" that carries a risk of either fumbling the loaded weapon while reaching for it, or drifting while firing with the existing weapon.
Normally there is a slow fire rule. You're supposed to be practicing your aim and form, not unloading for a thrill.
He does have ear and eye protection and seems to handle the guns comfortably.
I would not shoot at that range, or with people who fooled around with weapons like that.
ForgedCrank
(1,809 posts)that sort of crap. Fortunately, they are few and far between. If you find one, mark it on your list of places to never return.
I don't have much need to indoor ranges except sometimes in the winter and I'll drive into town for a little fun. If I walked in and witnessed that, I'd never go back. That's how people get hurt.
On the flip-side, some have ridiculous rules that are so strict, you can't even enjoy yourself. I know of one that makes everyone stop firing once every 15 minutes, unload and present their weapons to a range officer, then you have to wait 15 minutes before you can resume. They don't have motorized target lines for retrieval so you have to walk downrange to get your paper. Problem is, you spend half of your time there either loading or unloading, or waiting 15 damned minutes for people to change targets. It's horrible. The same place has a one shot every 5 seconds rule. I hate that place and never went back.
LudwigPastorius
(9,366 posts)it's doubtful that what he is doing is against the range rules.
If I owned a pistol, I certainly wouldn't go there to shoot, because it's obvious that place is all about catering to people who get off on their shooting fantasies instead of learning how to hit a target.

(816 posts)Obviously special treatment. No range Ive been to would allow me to do that. No to mention a live gun pointing at people to his left before he draws it.
