Filled up the other day. Kroger member discount 60¢ off.
We bought a lot of gift cards for Christmas so that must be it.
I need to start doing what Ive known other people doing - buy themselves gift cards at Kroger (2-4x in points) for Lowes or Amazon etc.
Filled up my 10 gallon tank for less than $25. 👍😀

I have the saver card for K, so I got 6¢ off. Paid $3.029.
Where are the morons with their "I did this" stickers now?

(12,657 posts)Prices aren't down TOO much yet around me, but they have dropped. I think I filled up 3 weeks ago for 4.09 (at an expensive pump due to not planning), and 3.69 this past weekend.

(70,490 posts)...was $3.619 the Friday before Thanksgiving.
So, basically a 53¢ drop in 38 days.
Faster than I expected.
They're only down around 15¢, on average, nationwide. In Illinois, around 18¢.
Not sure why it's so much more dramatic here.

(82,849 posts)Wait. No, I don't think I will bet on that. Sure, when it was advantageous to stick it to President Biden a couple of weeks ago, every network had a story about high gas prices. And supply chain problems. And the heartbreak of psoriasis. And any other crap they wanted to fling at the President.
Today? Gas prices are back down. Supply chain problems had far less impact than the doom-and-gloomers were predicting. And the Dow closed above 36,000 again today. Whether you agree about how much difference most of this stuff makes to people, these are some of the favored metrics for slagging on President Biden. Now that those metrics are favorable to the administration, the networks are going to have to focus on something else out of the President's control to gripe about.

(8,013 posts)A good chunk of the northeast never saw any of those reductions and I'm seeing the few that did lower theirs around here are starting to creep up again.
Not trying to pin this on Biden (because there really isn't that much he can do about it) but don't put that blanket "look at those lower prices" statements out there and expect no pushback.

(5,587 posts)We never saw the drop in prices that the rest of the nation did--it's still $3.32 at Sam's, even.

(8,013 posts)For the most part the only ones that lowered theirs any were the warehouse clubs and Walmart. Even places like Sheetz and Wawa that you'd think would drop mostly didn't budge more than a few cents, if at all.
edit: and it's not the gas taxes causing it....plenty of states with 10-20 cent lower taxes went down 50 cents or more.

(52,685 posts)what is weird is that the relationship of the prices has changed. On my trip to Ohio the cheapest gas has always been in Virginia on 77. That is no longer the case, both Ohio and my local prices were better. Dayton was in the low $2.80s while VA was just under 3.
