I could scream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This year I had my blended family over for Christmas Eve. Everyone was vaccinated and booster. Minus the grandchildren. Most of us did not wear masks but I felt safe. I just got a damn call that one of them who has tested positive for COVID and while I'm glad he informed us, I'm so pissed!!! He was exposed COVID and he was testing himself for COVID prior to coming to my home. I think he should have told us he was exposed to a COVID person. Am I wrong?!! Oddly this morning I woke up with a sore throat headache and sinus issues

1. If he was concerned enough about the exposure to be testing himself
then he should have let you all know.
It's the consciousness of danger that's the key here. He saw a danger to himself, so he should have made you all aware. All that said, get a test, stay calm, and feel better soon! |

2. Right he saw the danger to himself, but didn't care about the danger to
others.

4. I am not at all concerned about exposure
but I am testing once every week or so anyway.
fully vaxxed and boosted (actually that was the last real chance of exposure... at the mass vax center for my booster shot). Omicron is so transmissible that we will ALL be exposed to it sooner or later. Only thing we can do is be vaxxed and boosted and try to flatten the spike so that IF we are one of the unlucky few that do get a severe case, there will be hospital beds available with oxygen, etc for us. |

8. I keep hearing that
omicron is very transmissible and like you I expect to get it but not die from it.
I try not to get angry on those unvaxxed people but I do. ![]() cheers |

10. Yeah, the premise of the story here was that the guy was testing because he had been exposed
Thanks for the testimonial, though.

18. my point is that he shouldn't worry about exposure
test routinely. We will all be exposed, multiple times.

6. You're not wrong,
As infectious as omicron is, full disclosure is critical so people can makes informed choices. If be pissed, too.
But, you also choose to hang out unmasked, knowing that people present could have COVID. The fact that one of them knew they were exposed doesn't really change the risk you choose to take. As I keep telling people - COVID doesn't care if you're relatives or friends. Be responsible. Get tested. Stay home until your symptoms are gone and you test negative. |

7. You're not wrong.
In my opinion, there is a duty to be transparent about vaccine, exposure, and testing status.
Not only should you have been told so that you had an opportunity to disinvite him, the other attendees should have been told so they had the opportunity to bow out themselves. |

11. If you're fully vaxed and boosted I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you get COVID you'll be
fine. Maybe a mild illness and then you'll have super immunity!

12. I'm sorry you are going through this
SO contracted COVID and got a positive rapid test on 12/24. We are all vaxxed, boosted, pre-tested but he was feeling a sore throat that morning.
Of course, we left our son's house quickly after and drove home (from DC to FL) while his symptoms got worse. Not a pleasant drive. We both got PCR tests on 12/26, his positive, mine negative even though I had started a sore throat. I know I've got it, just had another PCR test this morning. But I've read that because omicron starts in the throat and travels to the sinuses, the first test could be negative. I'm fully sinus-y now. The good news is that son, DIL and baby are clear and that this is not more than a bad cold. |

14. Being fully vaccinated with Booster is a good thing....
Relax, this exposure will tweak up your immunity and you will experience flu symptoms for a few days ...that is why we all complied with vaccine protocols. We know it is not a " Shield" but will diminish symptoms....Hydrate, rest, do the vitamin regime...all I sense will be fine...

15. When people say "you're vaxxed and boosted, don't worry so much"...
and that we're all going to be exposed to Omicron, please, please consider those who can't be vaccinated, including and perhaps most especially children under 5.
Their loved ones who are not anti-mask or anti-vaxx are very frightened for them. I'm just asking those of you without wee ones in your immediate sphere to please keep them in mind and understand how those of us with little ones may express more concern than others and (edit to add) how these comments about "don't worry, you're vaccinated" land for many of us. |

21. Agree - AND
the "you're vaxxed and boosted, don't worry so much" ALSO implies what both Harris and Biden stated flat out: a guarantee.
There are none with COVID. While it happens less frequently, people who are vaxxed do sometimes get very sick. People who are vaxxed do sometimes die. And beyond that, more than 50% of people who have COVID experience long COVID. Not to mention that our knowledge of this disease is less than 2 years old. Some viruses (polio and chicken pox as two examples) have secondary diseases/syndromes that do not show up for decades. Treating it so cavalierly is playing with fire. |

20. People are weak, short-sighted, and lazy.
This is no longer a question, since so many have refused vaxxes.
