Hey.... Du'ers in cannabis-legal states...

Are you hearing of any robberies of pot shops?

It's an all-cash business, and from what I've seen, business is booming.
The banks are all tumescent about getting their hands on that money, but since it's still illegal Federally....

Any word on robberies... or why there isn't?

... but then, the high-end stores of all kinds are getting hit there. I believe that is a local phenomenon.

We have some in WA state that are virtual mom&pop operations, and small shops - "Maggie's Pot Shop", "The Reefer Den" - that aren't reporting robberies.

A simple consumer bank that handles personal checking and savings and small business basic accounts. By running it through the city, they're able to get past some of the federal regulations on Cannabis businesses or other businesses that may be questionable under FDIC, but legal in the State.
It hasn't gotten off the ground yet, but If be looking forward to seeing how it can help the communities.

And one of the major problems is, many insurance companies won't cover dispensaries. So a robbery at the wrong moment can pretty much mean the place closes down permanently.

There was an armed robbery of a small shop here in my little town in Washington State. The poor kids in there were so scared, there was video and one girl behind the counter just lost it after the robber left and had pointed a gun at her. I felt so sorry for her. She was shaking and sobbing, it was awful.

Here in CA licensed dispensaries will generally accept cash, credit/debit, and in a lot of places Paypal/Google/Apple/Samsung Pay.

Around the beginning of December, they started taking debit cards.
Well before that, one could use AeroPay when placing an online order.
At the 2 dispensaries near us, there is a cop on duty whenever they're open.
So no, we haven't heard anything around here about robberies.
Not sure how Chicago and the nearby suburbs are handling things, though.

I get my goodies from an old fashioned dealer. He’s got good weed, good prices and he comes to my studio. We’ll see what happens.

We have a ton of stores here. I use to see security guards but last few times I went just employees. Maybe they stick cash into safe they can't open like a lot of 7 eleven type stores do.

They would have to get through 2 sets of locked doors and security to get to the displays and tip jars at the one I go to. I don't know what the security is like getting through the employee-only doors, but either breaching those or breaking through the cashier windows would be required to nab cash or a meaningful amount of product for the act.

in a quiet suburb.

How armed? The day I was there, there were two dudes with rifles in hand, and two more with side arms.
